Howdy all :)

Just looking at a couple of flatlatch Model 12's at the moment.

  • Serial C666XXX ('63-'65ish), 2" barrel, square butt
  • Serial C473XXX (1960ish), 2" barrel, round butt

Which do I want ?? Love to see yours, square and round!

Cheers

Here is one I picked up a couple of months ago.

I have a 2" 4 Screw Square Butt Flat Latch M12 that has a pair of stocks that feel like a well worn bar of soap. Can't remember if they are original or not, but they are extremely comfortable. I have never seen another SB 2" M12.

My impression is the SB is less common as well. As far as which one you want, that's up to you, mate! :). If they are in equal condition, I'd probably go for the SB. Remember that these used thinner than standard K frame stocks until the 12-4, so replacements may be difficult to find.

Mine is a dash 1 , #C6701XX it is unfired and in 99% shape, but unfortunately no original box.

i would also think the squares are more rare. you never see one of them out in the real world. i'd go with it, if condition is equal.

we need pics when rescued!

Thanks for the pics!

Some nice ones there. Hopefully mine will look that good :)

I think I will just get the square and the round...no point quibbling..lol

PS I will post pleant of pics when they get here :)

Very sound logic, obviously a man of great wisdom!!!

Haha...thanks SRG.

I am getting both old guns. Just ordered a set of "no bark" stags from "Executioner" for the round butt as well :)

Mike

In case you don't already know, standard K frame grips won't fit early model 12's due to the narrow frame dimension. IIRC the Model 12-3 and later have the standard K frame width. The stags will look great, don't forget to post a picture when you get them installed on the gun...

Thanks mate,

Thats why Patrick has made Airweight "no bark" grips for me :)

I can't wait to get them into the country so I can take heaps of pics! I have 4 sets of grips on order (1 for Model 28, 1 for Model 17, 1 for Colt Python and these Airweights)

Cheers
