Which holster do you use?

IWB Holster.

Hey there. These holsters are great: Bravo Concealment RTT and Mag holsters for OWB carry and a Glocktech Original MIC holster for IWB use. This is my Glocktech MIC holster made for my S&W M&P9 (VTAC).

Pistol: S&W M&P9 VTAC (manufactured Oct 2013)
Holster: Glocktech Original MIC for M&P9 (Olive Green)

I'll post another of my Bravo Concealment setup.

Hope this helps...

IWB...

(The mag holder pictured is actually for a Shield. I can't be bothered to drag my FS one out for a picture).

About to make one in Coyote Gray though (which looks an awful lot like normal gray, but hey holster makers seem to love cool names and acronyms... maybe I should start calling them "platforms" and "systems" rather than plain old useful holsters.).

This is what I use for casual competitions and if we get a cooler winter in CA... I'll post these again because... well, this question has been asked before as well.

Finding the holster right for you is about figuring out what you need based around your lifestyle... starting really with how often does it need to come off and off.

Belt is as important as the holster, particularly for concealed carry.

These are some of the ones I've made.

For my M & P 9c, a Galco Triton.....I don't think that they make the Triton line anymore......but, it sure is a good kydex holster....

What do you need the holster for? Do you want a holster that rides outside the waistband or one that you can conceal, in the waistband (IWB)? If you want an IWB holster, everyone will have different opinions, just letting you know. Most people search for the perfect holster for them. What works for Joe, might not work at all for Bob.

I just ordered a Safariland 5197 from Midway.

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/13...ith-detent-fn-fns-9mm-40s-and-w-polymer-black

It's a basic entry level model, cost me $32.00 with shipping.

It seems well made, and has a secure detent lock.

I have a FS 9mm, so didnt want to go IWB. I wanted to cover the trigger guard, and have a decent retention mechanism, at a reasonable price for nightstand or bedside.

I also wanted a brand with a good reputation for making quality products.

This is really good advice, there are different holsters for different purposes. It really depends on your needs. I have everything from a pocket holster for an LCP (gasp ) to one of these for when I shoot USPSA Open Competition Holster System :: HOLSTERS.com, and pretty much everything in between. (I also have a bunch of holsters that didn't work out on the "recycling" shelf)

I use a KCT kydex holster with the reversible belt clips. I like it both IWB and OWB.

Milt Sparks SSII and a MS pancake for my FS 9 and 45. I also have a G-Code OSH paddle. Just ordered a Supertuck combat cut J-hook for my new 9c. I have used a Supertuck for a G26 this past year and have found it conceals as well as anything. Practally no printing. Milt Sparks makes some of the best gunleather, but the waiting periods are close to 6 months.

I have two for my Shield. I have an OWB Simply Rugged Cuda which is very comfortable and a DM Bullard IWB with a single metal clip. For me, IWB holsters take time to get use to wearing. You can see my DM Bullard in my avatar.

I'm just wondering what holsters you guys use for a M&P 9? I'm brand new to handguns so any info is appreciated.

It depends upon the purpose. Plinking or open carry might call for something different than concealment, although some will argue that you should always use your carry holster for practice. I agree in principle with this, but I do not do it 100% of the time.

Like many others here I carry a Shield. I use a IWB Kydex Holster made by PJ Holster. Yesterday for the first time carried OWB using a DeSantis Mini Scabbard.

What I like you might not like, nor do you mention for what purpose you want a holster for...Open Carry, Concealed Carry, Competition, Vehicle Carry, etc, etc.

If you do a quick Google Search for "M&P 9 holster" you'll see it yields many many different styles. Take a look at the pictures, see one you like, get the make and model and look up reviews on it.

I also might suggest you go to your dresser and empty out a drawer because I would almost bet you'll be like everyone else and end up with a drawer full of "just not right holsters". :D

Hi KnotRight, I'm with you on the paddle...I have tried a variety of inside the belt holsters and haven't found one that is comfortable.
