Which is your FAVORITE S&W revolver?

Kbm6893;

I'm probably going through my elbows to get to my ***, in adding this possibly unwanted, unneeded advice, to my dubious advice given in my post #126. the problem that you are having with your Mod. 27 , that doesn't feel right, might be very simple for you to overcome. For an example, my hands are relatively small, and the N frame revolvers that I shot in the early days of my shooting , never felt completely comfortable. Then almost 65 years later I tried the pair of Keith Brown grips shown on the 27 in my post #109. "Bingo", an absolute amazing fit. How I wish that I'd had grips like that to use in Bullseye Matches, and just plain ol' Shootin' back in the day. There are many makers of that same style and feel grips, That cost much less, that you could try, and I'm sure that you would be amazed at how great some of them, would make your 27 feel. Don't give up on that great 27 without trying good grips. My 2¢ on the matter.

- She's gorgeous.
- She's my 1st P&R revolver.
- She's my newest.

Pick whichever reason you like best. ;)

My Favorite Handgun

Let's try this again: My favorite S&W is my model 16-4, chambered in .32 H&R Mag. I hand load my .32's much hotter than standard so I CANNOT recommend them for H&R revolvers. With my hot loads and custom cast 106 gr. bullet it is the most accurate pistol that I own. However I admit to having a VERY close second in my S&W model 686, also with handloads using a heavy 166 gr cast bullet. I just wish that S&W had brought out a version of the model 16 chambered for the .327 Federal Magnum; I'd bet money that would have been an even sweeter shooting pistol!

My favorite S&W is the one I carried before I retired; my much beloved 696. I even had my badge engraved on the right side. I'm sure that 100 years from now, if people are still allowed to own guns, that some collector will be wondering who carried it.

Probably the 3.5" N-Frame 357 Magnum...

Starting with the original - 1935 Registered Magnum:

A pre-27 or two with a model marked one in there somewhere:

and a few 27-2's:

...just to name a few... BTW my close 2nd is the long-tube N-Frame 357 - I love them as well.:D

Back in '63 Dad decided to get a handgun. I thought he should get a Colt Single Action, but he wanted a "nice little .22" he could afford to shoot. He brought home a K22. I was confuddled by it since I hadn't seen one on TV. I remember well the beautiful blue finish and the walnut stocks.

That poor revolver went though a lot of lead and "adjustments" as I learned to gunsmith on it. I'm surprised it survived. But I've still got it - had to replace the worn walnut handles some decades back, but it's till in good shape and it's the last firearm I will part with ...

THANKS FOR THE KIND WORDS, HH.....

AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT, I DID HAVE A TYLER-T GRIP ADAPTER "ON ORDER" WHEN I TOOK THIS PIC.....

IIRC, IT TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS TO FINALLY SHOW UP........

Hahahaha! Mine was ordered in August, showed up in late October, early November... I went ahead and ordered (2) while I was at it because I knew the wait, while worth it, would be freaking miserable.

Pic of my Lew Horton Special with Magna's from Altamontco and Tyler-T for the "N" frame. I haven't shot her yet like this but we're going to the Mountain Home tomorrow and I'm going to fix that about 30 minutes after we get there. I'll post back if I like this combo as much as I love it on my pair of M36 snubbies.

How are most of you guys posting full sized pics within the body of your posts? I have only been able to attach pics but they all appear small until I mouse over them.
