I have a S&W 9mm CORE Pro 5inch. I am going to use it to shoot IDPA , steel , and just all around training. My question is to those who have a 5inch CORE with a reflex sight on their gun what MOA do you have? I am trying to decide on the MOA. Thanks

I can answer part of your question: You cannot shoot IDPA with a reflex sight mounted on the pistol under present rules. Although there has been some talk of adding a new division with optics, it has not happened.

The talk is that there will be either a optics division, or a compact division (not both) and the compact seems to be more likely to be adopted. (but we'll not know for sure until it happens, and what the new rules will be).

Regarding dot size, generally the larger the dot the faster the target acquisition, the smaller dot is more accurate. I have a 7.5MOA for USPSA and Steel Challenge. I'm debating with myself about getting a 3.5MOA for some of the matches that have longer distance targets.

I use a C-More RTS2 with a 6MOA red dot for steel challenge. It seems to be just as fast as the 8MOA Railway I used to use, but a lot more compact. It cost $400. so they're not cheap, but you want a good one that not only holds zero, but is bright enough on a sunny day. The reflex seems to be much better for steel challenge, as it's easier to use with both eyes open.

My IDPA and STEEL challenge is for training reasons only. It is one way we train and a way to find out how far the students truly are, their ability. The reason I am going to this set up is because of age my eyes are not as good as they used to be. I am having a problem with my eyes fighting for which eye is going to be dominant. One of my students had a gun set up with a reflex sight and it forced my right eye to be the one. Has any body heard of eyes fighting to be the dominant one.
