Howdy folks,

I just got my first handgun, a beautiful M&P 9L, I bought it used from Buds.. The test fired bullet is sealed in envelop, with matching serial # and it stats the bullet was test fired in Sep of 2012. To my best knowledge I thought the 9L was discontinued long before that date?

Also, could someone please help me identify which night sight is installed on the gun? (see photo)

The front sight have Trijicon branding but the rear sight only had a "M&P" stamped on top, both seems to be using H3 technology.

I've went through 100 rounds of Federal American Eagle on it already, love the feel of the gun, much better than the Beretta FS92 that my friend lent me to play when I went to range for the first time, it was just too heavy for me.

Thanks much for your help.

On the side of the box is a factory label with lots of info. There is 4 digit number that in 99% of the cases is the date of manufacture. 1st digit is the year the next three are the Julian date.

Just because a product is not on the website does not mean it is discontinued.

Thank you, it says 2263... So assuming it's made in 2012.

They're both Trijicons, I have the same sights on my 9 only the lettering on the front sight has rubbed off but still visible on the rear haha

Looks exactly like the Trijicons on mine -- except yours are in better shape.

Awesome, thanks guys!

I noticed the front sight is very hard to see in daylight because around the h3 tube there is no white paint, only a thin strip of exposed metal rim. while on the rear sight there is white paint surrounding the tubes As seen in photo.

Please forgive an old Goat but I do not remember how to configure the Julian Date. Could you be so kind as to explain it in a formula and exactly the way to use it? Thanks, Rick Sr. E-mail, [email protected]

Using linkmodo's date of 2263 The year ends in a 2 so we are at 2012 and the date is the 263rd day of the year.

If you wish to convert Julian date to Gregorian date just Google Julian Calender and look at the chart.

No formula required

Just remember that Leap Years have an extra day in them so look at the correct conversion chart for leap years.

Dumb Question I Know

OK thanks for posting the info about those 4 digits, & mine is 2284 (October 1982) so in my case I purchased my 25-2 in 1984 (SPC ORD) 2 1/2" barrel, round butt combat hammer & trigger & not a Jovino. My question is dumb I know but if the first digit 2 is the year, well there are alot of years that end in a 2 besides 1982 so I would think you would have to know in at least a reasonable time frame when the gun was purchased or am I missing something?

9L discontinued? You can buy them new currently. That is probably a LEO/MIL trade in. Did it come with 3 mags?
