OK, solicting some feedback here...my LGS is having a big sale on SW revolvers. Specifically, the 637, 638 and 642 are all on sale for ~$377 (cash). Anyone have any strong opinions based on experience/thoughts?

Fair price.
I would avoid the 637 if you're planning pocket carry. The 642's concealed or 638's shrouded hammers versus the normal hammer are far easier to deal with if you're going to carry the weapon in your pocket. If you're going to use an IWB or OWB then the hammer on the 637 is useful if the holster has a securing strap. Otherwise it doesn't matter much in a belt holster.
Handling should be the same for all of them. My 642 and 638 shoot pretty much the same.

These are aimed toward the carry crowd and if you are going to carry it, it will more than likely be for self defense. If you're using it for self defense, you really should have little use for single action therefore dont need an external hammer that can snag on something.
This is assuming it will be a concealed carry gun.

Out of the three I would go with the 642. I have one it's very easy to carry and conceal.

But i love the 638s look and design and it's ability to make a single action shot should the need or desire arise. If the need for single action is important to you on a pocket gun, this should be your first choice.

I vote for the Model 638. I bought one the other year and it is sweet. I like the shrouded hammer and the gun is lightweight. I can't CCW legally but it is a nice back up handgun for home defense.
