Which S&W Revolver Do You Carry Most?

99% of the time it's a 2.5" 19. If you would happen to catch me with an auto for some odd reason it would be a M&P9C or a BHP. If I were to add an auto as a normal carry gun the only one I would give serious consideration to would be a 3953. (I think!)

Constant companion most of the time: model 442 centennial air-weight.

Sometimes in winter with good cover clothing: split between my Actions by T custom DAO model 696 or my Chestnut Mountain Sports custom DAO model 581.

Usually a prelock 342Ti with LG-405 CT grips and loaded with 135gr Gold dots. The only thing better would be a 342PD prelock but i cant find one of those

Update

I usually carry a semi-auto, either a Kahr P380 or Kimber Solo or Kimber Super Carry Ultra+; however, when on my farm or hunting I carry a Model 696 in .44 special. It is a great package, small/light enough to carry all day and potent enough for any "varmints" I find on the farm.

I suppose we all evolve. In the 18 months since I first posted I have moved to almost exclusively carrying a revolver. (I do still sometimes carry the Kahr .380 and carry a .45 when working as a reserve narcotics agent).

These are ones that I have qualified with (for off duty, on duty and LEOSA)

Model 329-3 Carry Comp (Lew Horton)

Model 629-6 (Camfour)

Model 940

M&P 340 in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake -- always.

A few days ago the pups and I were out for their morning constitutional, just about to enter the woods, and caught a horrible foul scent that hadn't been there on our previous outings. Badger? Bear? Bigfoot? Wasn't sure, but figured the 135 grain Speer Gold Dots weren't enough so we turned tail and headed home.

Starting yesterday I invited the Trail Boss to join us on our morning walks. If I ever feel under-gunned I don the 500 in its bison scabbard (the locals are familiar with it, but it's drawn the odd look from non-residents).

I carry 100% of the time. And I open carry 100% of the time since 1 January when it became legal here in Texas. I carry one of my revolvers 95% of that time. And I rotate between my Ruger SP101 snubby and the S&W 586 (no dash) pictured. Once I am confident with the 686-2 pictured, it will join the rotation.

First part of the question is what percent of the time do you carry a revolver vs. a semi-auto? 50/50.

Next, when you carry a revolver, which one do you carry most? .44mag S&W69 5-shot 4-1/4". Plus a S&W360sc ultralight .357 as pocket BUG, always.

Do you have a carry rotation? What guns are in the rotation? No.

Do you carry IWB, OWB, Pocket, or some other way? Homemade under-the-shirt vertical shoulder holsters, for both the .44mag and my 10mm Kimber Eclipse 1911. From pajamas-off until pajamas-on, every day.

This before. Its retired now.

I also HAD a M642 that I carried a lot. My daughter stole it from me. :(. At least I was able to get my stag secret service grips off of it before she took it. Today it sadly sports pink Hogue grips.

Update: I got it back!

I usually don't ccw a S&W revolver but when I do it a m58 stay thirsty my friends. She's built for ccw carry. It's a pitbull in your waist line.

For the last few years I've carried a 3" Model 60.

Recently however I've switched to a 3" Model 13 as it isn't noticeably more uncomfortable to carry and is much more fun to shoot with .357 Magnum loads.

Before settling on 3" .357 Mag revolvers, I also carried a 1 7/8" Model 36 and a 2 1/8" Model 60.

I've concealed carried since 1986. Prior to switching to revolvers, I've carried full size 1911s, a Browning Hi Power, a CZ 75 Compact and various PP and FEG AP and APK pistols.

Depends on how it comes up in my rotation. I alternate among my 629-1, Sig Sauer P226, Glock 23, Glock 22 Gen.3 modified, Glock 22 night sites, Glock 22 Gen 4, Glock 22 RTF, Glock 22 Gen 4., Glock Gen 3. ( Yes!, I own 8 Glock model 22's).
The 629-1 is a 3 inch model, and I usually load it with Buffalo Bore 44 special heavy duties.
I carry outside waist band, it is just more comfortable with me.
I carry every day at the request of my States Governor,. Due to on occasion providing security for him and others, and my grandson's occupation, which puts our family on certain lists, to be on alert.

I pocket carry my 638 EVERYWHERE!! When I can, due to dress. I will carry my SD9Ve, OR my 6inch 686 plus

I carry a Smith & Wesson M640 .357 magnum with 125gr. Hormany Critical Defense factory rounds inside the pants with a Clip Draw. Never an automatic because of jamming at the wrong time.

The questions in order:

I carry both a revolver and an auto, whenever I'm up.

The revolver is a S&W 442 with Eagle Secret Service grips, carried in a Ken Null ANK ankle holster.

I guess I have a carry rotation in that the auto might change. Most of the time it's a Browning HiPower, and sometimes a 1911. An HK P7 gets carried when I need something a little smaller, and sometimes just because I like it.

I rcently got a S&W 69 and a 65, and have to work them in some way.

Tie between 627 and 586 L-Comp. The 586 Has night sights, so it goes out at night more.

Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel .357 Magnum in the cylinder, .38+P in the pouch.

I spend time at the farm, the lake, in town, in work clothes, dress clothes, and uniforms. Temps range from about 20 degrees in winter to 110 in summer. So I carry these as appropriate.
Kahr.45/kahr 9mm/1911 cdr - 50% of time in OWB under shirt/jacket/coat 640 Pro/60 Pro/686 2 1/2/ and s&w 21 iwb or owb under shirt/vest/jacket coat. 50% of time
