Which would you choose: M29-2 or M27-2

A Pre-29 and a 27-2, Get both guns.:)

The 27-2, because you will probably end up shooting that one alot more, and just look at the topstrap and then handle it a bit more. Yes it would be nice to buy both, but in the real world.

I'd have to go for the 6.5 inch M-29-2 Blue !
Have two of them and their still a couple of my favorites.
Then again, the "Dirty Harry" movies might have had a lot of influence (which I have the DVD collector set I still watch) ---------------- :D
Authough I picked up a 27-3 and couldn't pass up a 57-1.

I would get the 27-2 for a couple of reasons. First, the checkering on the topstrap looks amazing. It says class! Second, as others have said, since it has been shot, you will shoot it. Shooting it alot will be easier because of the reduced recoil, as well as, the cheaper cost of the ammo (.38 are a bargain compared to .44 mag or special).

My opinion is that if both guns were in NIB condition, they would basically be priced the same. If you had to buy the presentation box, tools, and paperwork for the 27, it would cost you at least $150. The "used" condition of the 27 should decrease its value by another $50 at least. So, buy the 27, but talk him down $50-100 because of the use and absence of the accessories, and then show us the pictures.

If forced to choose, the 29 would get the nod. Like said before, gotta be a way to swing some kind of deal on both!

M27-2 hands down...much nicer package than the M29 IMO...but in 5in or 3 1/2in

If you can only get one get the 29 6.5 barrel length, this is only what I would do I have a 29-2 8" and a 27 8" but would love to have a 6.5 29-2. Jeff

Everything I own gets shot. I take good care of my guns and I keep them clean and pretty, but I shoot them.
I really love the older Smiths and I've never had a 29-2, but I have a 3", 4" and a 6" 29-3s. And I once had a 5" pre 27.
I'm going to try to work a deal to get both, and I REALLY WANT BOTH!
I'll know more tomorrow........
Thanks,
Blackdog

The 27 is the Cadilac of the N Frames. I have both and would be hard to pick. The 29 is a great hunter and I love it for deer and Hogs. The 27 has more bling, and is cheaper to shoot. Save your money and buy both, you wont be disapointed.

I worked out a deal and got both the 29-2 and the 27-2.
I try to take a couple of photos soon.
And I'm very happy with my new toys
Thanks,
Blackdog

You did great but if I could only have one it would be a 3.5 inch 27-2.

Buy one now put the other on lay way. They are good buy might get a little knock off by taking both of them. GOOD LUCK
