White House readying 19 executive actions on guns

Whats so bad about these things? They don't impede anyone rights. They don't take anything away they don't outlaw any guns. I think its the best possible outcome.

"What[']s so bad about these things?" Is the same thing Germans started saying in 1933.

Better to consider what our Representative from Texas said:
Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) pretty well summed it up yesterday when he addressed the executive order idea,
"If the President is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist."

............and a Congressman from Texas said today he's readying articles of impeachment if he tries to add one iota to existing laws. It's going to get nasty.

Good! Nasty is one thing that the gun grabbers understand. They don't want to lose power and seats like in the 2010 mid-term elections!

They've created their own spin and perception on this issue to subtly influence Americans to believe the tide has turned and that American gun owners ARE all wanting "sensible" gun control . . . but we all know this isn't true at all.

So, let them push hard . . . and we'll push back even harder and they should back right off. Frankly, IMHO, they are pushing against an immovable rock based on the foundations of our country's very laws . . . and this ROCK will NOT be moved!

Then he can blame Biden's bunch of rubber-stampers for making a mistake. Otherwise, he'll enact new laws and executive orders simply because he got "informed" that this was the will of the American people by "Biden". Heck, we all know he formed that committee to do his bidding and will. They have long known exactly what direction they were going on this entire issue! We've known it for years too!

We've got to be firm, polite, of "one accord," and be willing to push back hard right now.

This just went out by fax:

Hon. Harry Reid, Senator and Chair
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Fax: (202) 969-0354

Dear Senator Reid:

Before the Great Recession, I contributed money to the DSCC. Then I lost my job, moved for a new opportunity, and now, things are starting to look not so bleak. I contributed, a little, to the President's re-election campaign. I hoped to be able to broaden that out in 2014 to other Democrats.

I am an active markswoman, I have competed in a number of local matches. I have worked, over the last two cycles, to explain to my fellow competitors that no, the Democrats aren't going to take away their guns, that the Democrats had no intention of passing new gun control laws. With some luck, I believe that I persuaded a few of them to give Democratic candidates an honest look.

Well, I am done with that. Between the recent actions of Governor Cuomo in my former home state and with some of the bills that Democrats have discussed introducing, I have found myself having to eat my words.

My wingnut friends were right: A lot of Democrats were just waiting for another tragedy in order to try to pass more gun control laws.

I do not agree with most of the agenda of the GOP. Actually, I find it reprehensible. But now I am finding some of what the Democrats are trying to do equally reprehensible. So I am no longer a "yellow dog" Democrat. And neither is my wallet.

I cannot imagine that I am alone in this sentiment. If the Democrats want to have a hope in Hades of prevailing in 2014, they might do well to keep this in mind.

Sincerely,

This was VERY well said. We need a lot more calm and collected, but stern letters like this one to prove we're not a bunch of ya-hoos. Obviously the public doesn't get to see the responsible, respectable gun owners for what they are. They only get the "crazies" and "thugs" in the eyes of the masses. I know I'm not saying anything you guys don't already know, just releasing frustration in a positive manner.

Very well written. A lot of people in your situation are cowering now. Glad to see you stand up for what is right and admit there is a problem currently. I myself, although a son of a military veteran, was never very political. I still think there are things wrong on both sides of the table, but dammit dont mess with my liberties. The only good things about what is going on, is that is has united ALL firearms owners, because under the current "assault" on our liberties, they dont care if your semi-auto is used for sport or hunting, to them it is just something citizens dont need. Cudos to you, and thanks for joining in on the good fight! :)

just reported, they're going to use children as props in tomorows news conference. don't ever forget "it's for the children"

It stinks. There is nothing Zero would not stoop too. Sure use children , it is all about them, yeah right. But it sounds good to them, so he will do it. If he was surrounded by angels he would still be what he is.

I dont want any children or innocents to be hurt. The people that do so are criminals and murderers. We should not let anyone look us off on these facts. Especially the great zero!

Those men that signed The Declaration of Independence did so at great risk to themselves and to their families and even to their children. Some of them were killed for it. It took a lot of guts and determination to stand up to the strongest government in the world then in 1776. It will take that same thing again in 2013 and forward.

Thank you. The Democrats have to be educated that it isn't just Republicans who are incensed at the gun bans, both proposed and now, enacted. They stand to lose some of their base over this and they need to know that before it happens.

Recent word is that Harry Reid has signaled that a new AWB is not going to happen. So maybe there is some hope. But we have to keep the pressure on, and it's going to really help if some of that pressure is coming from grass-root Democrats.

There are a lot of laws that I may not like ....but I will abide by the law....Freedom is the only thing I ever felt that was worth dying for. If our second amendment means nothing to our Politicions...then the rest of the Constitution is useless. In 1776 the People Drew the line....and we are Free today because of their courage. We need to have the same courage when it comes to standing up for our freedom. Right now...we have that ability....should we ever become disarmed...we will be beyond being able to respond to a brutal government. I hope we have the courage to stand and say...this is where we draw the line....not to be infringed means that is the line and its backed up by "We the People" We are not subjects...we are the "People" that elected you to represent us in government and expect you to live up to the Oath you took to defend the constitution that was written to protect the rights of all Americans. WE can not allow our rights to be trampled on by any one person or minority group that seems to forget who they represent.

"Whats so bad about these things? They don't impede anyone rights. They don't take anything away they don't outlaw any guns. I think its the best possible outcome."

As soon as they are enacted, you will most certainly find out the hard way what's so bad about them. I am amazed that some people refuse to recognize exactly the enormity of what is happening here and what it portends for not only gun control but people control in all areas. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

I think mental health exams for gun owners would be a good thing. Just as good, in fact, as intelligence and integrity exams for politicians.

I'll agree to the one if we can also get the other. If I can't pass the mental health exam then no gun for me and if someone can't pass the intelligence and integrity tests then they cannot hold public office.

And one thing that King Obama will not address is one of the main problems with these people who go on the killing sprees: their prime motive is to become a celebrity. If you ban media from broadcasting this kind of thing, I believe you would see a big drop in the occurrence of these tragedies.

Another is for people who have firearms to LOCK THEM UP!

We also have to address the problems of kids going on mass killings because of psychological problems from bullying. It is not just a school problem. This exists in the corporate world, too, and perpetrated by coworkers and bad management.

The more harsh background checks could get to be near impossible to pass. Just my thoughts, and I have no facts to base this on, but what if he pushed to the extremes of, say, too many speeding tickets will deny you because it shows your lack of respect for the laws. Or that shoplifting offense as a middle-schooler shows you want to lead a life of crime. It gets a little personal, but I'm putting it out there just as a hypothetical situation.(the hypothetical situation being denied my right to buy/own firearms because of the following. The following really did happen) I was involved in a misfortunate situation (misunderstanding) that lead to me being charged with 12 felonies. It was a long legal battle, but finally got it all sorted out and charges dropped. I am NOT a felon, but now it's on my record that I was charged with 12 felonies. If background checks got more strict, I'm sure I'd no longer be able to buy new firearms. Even though I did nothing wrong, and proved it in court, that showing up on the background check could prove detrimental if stricter regulations went through. I'm just saying, you never know how strict he'd try to go with these background checks.

You are spot on.

Think about this: you are a member of a (or several) gun forum. You have vented about how the president is the enemy, Americans need to revolt, you'll "give them your guns, ammo first", "molon labe", posted pics of your various weapons with pride, etc. They can label you as a "threat", and under the NDAA (HR1540) and Patriot Act (HR3162), that can have dire consequences, like imprisonment indefinitley with no trial. So, yeah, they could make it really tough to get a BG check cleared.

I'm just thinking if all you NY'ers just didn't obey they law, they couldn't enforce it. Just say no.

Wasn't it the Centers for Disease Control that counted 18-19 year old gang bangers as "children" when compiling statistics on childrens' firearms related deaths?

Obama surrounding himself with children for tomorrow's scheduled news conference tomorrow highlights the hypocracy of this whole mess: It must be okay to kill the kids you don't want.

Of all of the alleged proposals I've heard, the only one I don't have a problem with are background checks. Background checks, however, do nothing to prevent criminals from using straw buyers or simply stealing them. Background checks would have done nothing to prevent these most recent tragedies.

If our Congress can get nothing else done, they should at least see if they can set the record for impeaching President Obama as quickly as possible after his inaguration. Then, it won't take long for VP Biden to do something unconstitutional and become the first president to be impeached following his predecessor.

Its possible that the Republicans and conservative democrats can stand firm and keep these ridiculous proposals from becoming law and things will settle down. We've got to hold our reps' feet to the fire on this one.

I do think maybe someone reiterated to him that January 20th is not a coronation, but an inauguration. Hopefully, it will have sunk in.

My major concern is that few in the US House and the US Senate will have the political will-power to challenge much of what is made by edict of Executive-Order. I hope that I am wrong.

Will any of those currently in Washington DC live up to their oaths that they took upon being sworn-in?

I admit that impeachment is a gamble because of Nero the Second's popularity. Nevertheless, don't discount the possibility that grass roots movements might become much stronger than the Tea Party was in 2010. Obama's only riding on what he believes is a mandate because he got billions of dollars worth of free campaign advertising, voter fraud is more rampant than anyone realizes, and a good number of conservative voters who are probably now stockpiling guns and ammo did not get out and vote that day in November for whatever reason, including they didn't like the establishment Republican. Continue to hold your reps accountable. Representative Kevin Yoder, Kansas 3rd District just introduced a bill to strip Congress of retirement benefits. Let that one build up some support.

Oaths, honor and keeping your word are only for the little people

And what are these 19 recommendations? The article does not say.

The adm. has been talking about this for awhile now as in we are "doing something" but in reality they have done nothing and in the end it will be just recommendations to congress and enforcing existing regulations. Pandering to the left is all I see here. I recommed that congress pass legislation toward a balanced budget. The chances of that happening are zero. See how easy that was. Jim
