White tail deer, triplets?

According to Google, yes, whitetail deer can produce triplets when the food is abundant and of high quality.

I interpret that defines a well managed area with high protein feed available year round. The does need to be well fed long before breeding starts. An underweight fawn hits the ground at a deposit.

We have a pet deer named little girl that shows up late May every year. She had triplets 3 yrs in a row when she was younger. Last year she only had one. I've been hand feeding her for the last 7 yrs, how she makes it through hunting season every year is a mystery to me.

We have been feeding deer for over 10 years and have not seen triplets yet. There is a lot of food available in the summer but tough sledding for the deer for about 5 months out of the year. We did, however, have a bear one year that had quadruplets! Only came around at night, but the trail camera caught them a couple times.

I had a 400# blackbear living closeby and he got a call of the wild one night he was gone. About 2 years later a cub showed up in his place. He was rubbing the Shepard's hook that had bird suet on it. After many encounters being friendly he left. But I did scare him off a few times. I'm waiting for the next cub.

Yes. I have personally observed it. Sitting at an intersection in the country and a doe sticks the head out. Looks around and walks across. Then one by one three fawns trotted across.
It was nice to see.

Thanks for the answers! That deer was huge, the biggest doe I ever saw, suspected trips but never saw any before. Does with two fawns are quite common here. Food is good in the good months and fair at a minimum in the bad months.

The lay of the land, a lot of activity goes on behind my place up on the next plateau. Hopeful I will get to see the proud mama and her three offspring's together in the future!:)

We have a number of does that consistently throw triplets on my place. They tend to look pretty rough until late summer and the fawns wean off them. Its probably all about food supply and nutrition.

We have whitetail deer here and 3 years ago a doe had triplets and raised them, last year I think the same doe had another set. I was cutting hay in the hay field and ran over one, you would think that they would jump up and run off. They will not and I was watching very close but I killed one. I can tell you that something like that will make an old man cry like a baby, the hay was heavy and thick. I quit bird hunting because I did not like to kill birds or animals. I think a lot of fawns are killed that way. We keep corn out for them and have had as many as six in the yard. Jeff

Cute Cute. Try throwing out one of the feed blocks from Tractor Supply. Give them a little more protein to scoot through the last few cold weeks
