who needs a tome for their countenance?

I was contaminated by pronouncing at Spelling Bee competitions for many years.

My sesquipedalian ( ˌseskwəpəˈdālyən: characterized by long words; long-winded.) tendencies get the better of me when trying to say a lot in a few words. That works only if the same vocabulary is shared, otherwise one simply sounds pedantic (pəˈdan(t)ik: excessively concerned with minor details and rules or with displaying academic learning.)

It all started with trying to think of a clever way to say FaceBook without saying FaceBook.

I never joined Facebook.

This year when I was renewing my membership I started thinking about the subject of this thread. I do not have cable, no Netflix, no magazine subscriptions, no premium web services, and I spend a good deal of time here. I decided to bump up my membership level from Bronze to Silver because I like this place and the interactions that go on here. I feel no more or less loved here now than when I was not supporting the site with my small contributions. I just hope a few bucks helps the place continue what it does. :)

I check my home page, emails and around a half dozen gun sites daily. I do go on Facebook to stay abreast of current politics a subject that's forbidden here. I try to contribute as much as I take from a site and I believe this is only fair.

Pandora plays my flavor-of-the-day while I'm staring at this one-eyed monster.

No tv.
No facebook.
No twitter.

and HERE!

When I'm not HERE or working outside you might find me at the local watering hole, where the sign on the back bar reads: "NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES AT THE BAR!" Brilliant.

Many of we 30 locals check in at some point in the late afternoon -- that's our social medium.

Visiting this forum is one of the few uses I have for a computer when not working. Computers are not my forte. I'll usually check the news, then a couple of local shops used gun lists, and then see what's new here. I've learned a bunch here, and enjoy the variety of topics. There are also some really good writers here.

One other reason I like this group, you folks are proof there are still normal and sane (more or less) people out there.

Bro Dave, I'm not sure what you said but I will stand up for your right to say it...I think. Just kidding. Yeah, this place is a daily must read and I do admit google is my friend on many occasions.

Jim, you don't owe me anything. I'm happy to share my vast and expansive knowledge with everybody, and do it with humility.
