People are capable of some strange stuff.
A number of years back there was a tree along the highway between Vale Oregon and Burns Oregon that folks would pull over and tie the strings together on a pair of boots or shoes and toss them up into the tree. The first few times I saw it there were 50+ pairs of shoes in that tree. Then one year I went by and the tree hand been trimmed back to nothing. Local up the road a bit told me the highway dept. had made the tree so people would quit doing tossing shoes on it.
1. What in the world would possess someone to throw shoes up into a tree?
2. What possible good did it do the Highway folks to prevent the practice?
People are weird.

There are some real old calibers in that stump. Makes it all very interesting. A good story perhaps?
Two Palm trees and an old inner tube and you can pick off surfers with the coconuts.
