Who's your favorite TV "Top Cop"?

Best character: Vic Mackey (The Shield), Andy Sipowitz (NYPD Blue) runner up
Coolest: Raylon Givens (Justified)
Funniest: no contest...Barney Fife (you know the show)

The original Starsky & Hutch, not that moronic remake ... All LEO vehicles should be '75 Gran Torinos.

My vote for best looking:

police-woman-angie-dickinson.jpg

Best looking, have to go with Stacy Sheriden from T.J. Hooker

TJ Hooker, because he was so bad an actor. I still watch it every so often ( 5-10 minutes is all I can take) for a good laugh.

Several favorites:

William Fichter and Gabriella Pession in Crossing Lines.

Jean Hughes Anglade and Karole Rocher in Braquo. This is a French television show with English subtitles.

Diane Kruger and Demian Birchir in The Bridge.

All three shows are, IMO, excellent shows with good acting and quality writing. I watch them on HULU.

Do they ever? I can't recall any that did.

Oh no! I'm trying to visualize who might be good in the remake of this great old tv show. Right now no body comes to mind. It won't be easy to find someone that can pull off the Grouchy-but-loveable-at-the-same-time and always cool personality like Mr. Burr did it.

That was such a good show that I'm gonna have to give it a try but I'll be honest with ya.....I ain't a gittin' my hopes up!

It will also be interesting to see how they handle the character of Marc Sanger, the chief's African American personal civilian assistant. Seems to me a lot of that might not be considered PC in today's culture.

As several have already said.

Great wardrobe:D, great looking car:D.
And who could possibly withstand questioning by Lt. Columbo:D

I nearly hurt myself laughing when somebody commented on Columbo's car and he said his wife had a car too, "but hers is just transportation."

I liked Hal Linden as Barney Miller, but that whole cast was great. Especially Jack Soo as Yemana (the perpetrator of ghastly coffee) and Abe Vigoda.

Probably SSA Aaron Hotchner on, "Criminal Minds." But SSA David Rossi, played by Joe Mantegna (sp?) is very close.

I also like the CA Bureau of Investigation agents on, "The Mentalist." Esp. Agent Cho and the dame, whose name momentarily escapes me. (I need coffee, and am about to make some.) She's the lead agent, who puts up with the hero's mannerisms. Oh: Spcl. Agent Lisbon. And I like van Pelt, who's hot, if you like redheads, which I generally don't. I keep hoping that she and one of the male agents will admit they have the hots for one another.

The least favorite are the black guy (Morgan) on, "Criminal Minds" and the wimpy doc. And the asst. on, "Hawaii Five-O." He's played by James Caan's son. Too short and too New Jersey for my tastes. But the guy who plays Chin and the chick played by the Korean-Canadian girl are good. Aha! Grace Park!

Oh: Lord, I forgot Tom Selleck on, "Blue Bloods!" He'd be my favorite top cop, even if the show is set in NYC, a place that I detest. His ADA daughter is okay, if a little too PC. The younger son, Jamie, is nice, if a bit naive. The smart-alec son played by Wahlberg is too NYC for my taste, but he does like to protect people and catch crooks, even if he is a smarty pants with a Noo Yawk attitude.

If we can extend this to PI's, the Spenser For Hire series was good and very like the books.

I dont know most of the ones you listed but--even though I dont really consider Selleck a "Cop" I loved the Magnum P.I. Series. Well, I guess he was a "Cop" or formerly so--in Naval Intelligence.
