WHY BUY A GLOCK 19 WHEN YOU CAN GET A MUCH BETTER GUN WALTHER PPQ?

$80 price difference on the prices the OP showed between the PPQ and the Glock 19. With a little bit of money and a little work you can have a much better trigger in the Glock easily. All of my Glocks have gotten a $.25 polish job and a minus/3.5lb connector and that is the end of the trigger job. My M&P Shield on the other hand needed an $90 Apex kit to make it an acceptable trigger for me.

And with the money saved over the PPQ then buy some extra mags or more ammo.

One thing that would make me think...

I shoot lead a lot more nowadays, so the traditional rifling of the PPQ wins over the Glock's polygonal rifling.

Also, the Walther should be good to go right out of the box, but if you can do the work on the Glock yourself, what the hey?

PPQ

I purchased a used PPQ for $ 425 a couple of months ago. Already owned a VP9 and a G19. PPQ trigger is excellent as is the HK. Glock is more combat proven. I love all 3 (as well as my 4 Smith and 2 Colt revolvers).

OP: You are playing in plastic, go to a Browning Hi-Power, SS, 40 SW and see where that compares to the plastics. Be Safe,

God I have to add my 2 cent. I own a G19 and a G30. Get that out of the way first.
I have a good assortment of S&W and a couple Ruger's.
It seems to my many guy's and girls' after getting their Glock stat changing it, slide release, mag release , trigger, well you get the point.
Owning a Glock is like owning a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, they work and they are ugly. Walther's are dishwasher safe.

Get what you like and want. We have a PPQ here and the grip and trigger pull is superior to the 2 Glocks I have had for 10 plus years. We also recently got a H&K VP9. The Walther has probably 4000 rounds with no issues and the VP9 probably 1000 also with no problems. Both are nice pistols that shoot very well.

Glocks are not target pistols. Were never meant to be. Saying the trigger sucks is like wondering why your minivan can't clock 175mph.

The Glock does what it was meant to done it does it superbly. If you REALLY need it, you're not going to care what the trigger is like. All you'll want is for it to work.

And for those who talk about Glocks being modified by their owners and the 1911 is the "ultimate" pistol; I have to laugh. The 1911 has been modified over the past 100 years, and unless you're shooting a true 1911 with the useless tiny sights, high unflared ejection port, no finger reliefs, tiny manual safety, spur grip safety that won't feed anything but 230gr hardball, you don't have any room to talk.

I have 1911s, S&W 3rd gens, Hi Powers, even a 357 Blackhawk. What lives in the nightstand? Glock. Period.

Glock VS ?

Can one gun fit all the needs for personal defense or concealed carry? I like my S&W 351C, and my Colt LW Commander and my Gen 2 Glock 19. Do I use all three, yes and I train with all three.

agreed

Marathonrunner:

You're missing the ultimate handgun : the Colt 1911.

Get a real Colt 1911: preferably a series '70.

Put 1000 rounds down range after you've done a training course.

Then get a Colt Commander (the Commander is the light weight, the Combat Commander has a steel frame )

Finally, once you've mastered the 1911, get a j frame (my favorite is the old M38.

Learn to shoot it.

You'll be selling many of your Tupperware guns.

Just my opinion, of course.

I did shoot a 1911 style gun pretty darn well at 75feet. Even my match grade Glock 34 with barstow barrel could not come close

ruger

You're on a forum of SMITH & WESSON afficianados , looking for support of a Glock over a Walther ? My head spins.

Stand by over on the Ruger Forum to tout the relative track record of the latest Tarus over the Springfield XD.

alot of people I know who bought Rugers had so many problems with them> Kind of like he volkswagon of guns

Steyr Mannlicher.

S-A1, C-A1, M-A1, L-A1. What Glock could have been.
Created by a former employee of Glock, Wilhelm Bubits took the A1 design to Steyr. The M was released in 1999 and the others followed. So a design with some time in the field, made by a longstanding reputable name.

Anyone who grabs onto my L9-A1 says wow.

A recent article detailed some very nasty financial shenanigans that Gaston has done to family members. I won't own one.
