Why do you carry?

Because there are a lot of bad people out there who do bad things. Bad things can happen to good people anytime, anywhere, and I want to be prepared just in case it happens to me or my family.

Because I live in one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. Memphis, Tennessee. A human life means nothing in a few spots around here.

I try to stay out of any city that has been featured on "The First 48".

People ask my if I'm carrying because x is a dangerous place? I tell them if I know that a place is dangerous, I do my best to stay away from there. It's the places I don't know are dangerous that worry me. That's why I carry everywhere I possibly can.

Speaking of Memphis, my wife and I went a couple of years ago. She's always wanted to go to Graceland, so we did. I carried everywhere in that city. I hope never to have to go back, but if I do I'm bringing at least one gun.

Because I want myself and my family to have a fighting chance to survive if we happen to find ourselves in a desperate situation.

Why I carry because I do not want to burden the President and other politicians with protecting me. That would make me feel like I was getting a free handout, like being protected by the government without
paying for it. By doing it myself, it raises my self esteem.

Because I can and I,my family and anyone with me will not become a victim to the scum that we have left to evolve and fester in this country! ;)

Anyone that is able to get a license should.
Remember when seconds count, the police are only minuets away.

I recommend everyone carry a gun.

They show up in time to clean up the mess and draw chalk outlines.

Doh...

Senility sets in...

Good question.

Never been a cop or had a job I would consider high risk, and don't engage in high risk activities. I wonder if I wasn't already a gun enthusiast if I would've gone out and bought a gun just to carry.

Gun carry laws were far more restrictive than they are now. For much of my life I could not carry.

Since I started carrying roughly two decades ago, I can say that the times I am unable to have my CCW with me (crossing the border from PA into NY, etc.) is unsettling. I carry because I feel safer; because I support 2A; because my sidearm is an insurance policy that affords me an opportunity to protect myself/loved ones in the worst case scenario; because the world has become a very bad place; because predators prey on weakness not armed civilians.

There are other reasons, but these should suffice.

I carry because the world is daily becoming a more unpredictable place. One never knows when the need for decisive force will be necessary, and it's better to be prepared than not.

Because I'm too old to run, too stiff and sore to fight, and too blamed cantankerous to let some guy named "Septic," along with four other members of the Vulcan Nightriders gang to rob me and beat me up.

Too bad. They featured several cases here in Louisville, and statistically this is one of the safest cities in the country.

I live alone, and have no family except my dog to protect; but I'm not quite ready to go out the Main Exit yet. I might miss something.

I'm old and slow and half-crippled. Can't run, can't fight hand-to-hand, so I carry a gun. I pray I'll never have to use it, but it's there if I must.

Primarily because I have a wife and two beautiful young twin daughters. I couldn't live with myself if anything were to happen to them because I was unable to protect them. While the likelihood of ever having to pull/use a weapon is astronomically slim, things happen. Like most of the other folks, I view it as insurance for that "what if" situation.

Be well all.
