"Because you're not qualified to carry one. You haven't got the
skills, the judgment, the sense of responsibility, or the
courage for it." Anyone know who said that?

Suppose you enlighten us. Be sure to include the context in which the remark was made or it means nothing!

I've no idea who said that "first", but I can tell you I first heard it a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. ;)

Going on the premise that the population is divided into three basic personality types, Wolves, Sheep, Sheepdogs, it's a Sheepdog's answer to the "Why do you carry a gun?" question so often asked by sheep.

Do I personally think it's the most appropriate answer to that question that best fits all situations? No, I don't. I'd reserve that answer for only the most condescending, snooty types. Most of the time people are simply politely curious. For those polite types I try to be as invitingly informative and welcoming as I possibly can.

Why do you carry a gun?

As a retired LEO my experiences (surviving three deadly force confrontations in 30 years) are why I continue to carry, and to shoot regurarly and ensure my skills do not deminish w/time.

Sadly, our society has declined in common sense, respect, decency, morals and many other important things that promote a nice society.
Carrying does not make me feel superior to anyone but it does allow me to not be a statistic along with my skills, experience and attentive personality I will be fine.
Lastly, I take great pride in saying the only time I have used my firearms has been at the range or out in the desert. I will not say I have not been close because I most certainly have however I left home with max capacity and came home with the same..😉🤙

I carry a gun because there is evil in this world. It strikes in churches, McDonalds, the library, at home, and in traffic. It comes in restaurants, parking lots, and movie theaters.

When it comes, you won't have time to wait for the police. It will come suddenly without warning and with unbelievable violence.

I believe it is my job as a man to protect my family and other innocents from this evil.
Generations of Americans have fought and died to protect this country, their families, and friends.

It is my right and my duty to follow in their footsteps if called upon to do so.

i didn't carry much for years because i lived where a shotgun in a pick-up was the norm. even at high school there were guns in cars and trucks. i really got serious about my own self defense when i moved to south fl and drugs, gangs, home invasions, knock out game and home invasions were far more common than the rare run in with a black bear. getting married and having kids only reinforced my dedication to concealed carry.
