Why the $ difference in these 642's?

What's interesting is that S&W is listing the MSRP on a disty custom gun. They usually don't do that. Some people say S&W gives more attention to those special issue guns, but I don't know that for a fact.

Be happy you got what you did, i got the first one pictured and had to send it back to S&W to get fixed, still havent heard any response yet. Oh well, does anyone know the website to type in the serial number to see the progress. I guess from now on ill stick to older used smiths that are tried and true
 
I'm happy with it. The trigger is good, and I can hit a paper plate at 25 yards. Because of the lower list price I was just a little worried that I perhaps got shortchanged.

Ironically the wood grips have to go. My wife can't handle the recoil with them. She shoots my M&P 340 just fine with CT grips, so I'm trying a Monogrip for her.
