Why Working Traffic Is So Dangerous

I know this thread is concentrating on Police officers, but don't forget the people who's job calls for them to be on the side of the road. I spent a good part of my career as the guy who had to go out and fix broken down vehicles, usually large trucks, on the side of the road. Its especially dangerous when you have to be working on the traffic side of that vehicle.
People will zoom past at 70-80 mph mere inches from your body and think nothing of it. I once had a car snatch the shop rag out of my back pocket.
Move over people! Give us room to work!

When my dad was teaching me to drive, one thing he really emphasized was giving ANY vehicle on the side of the road a lane of leeway. One stumble of a truck driver coming out of the semi cab or one backward step by a highway patrolman could spell disaster. With all of the states now enacting "Move Over" laws, I'd say Pop was just ahead of his time.

The majority of most traffic crashes are caused by one or more drivers inflicted with an acute case of Cranial Rectal Inversion. Or what I like to call 'DWHUA'.

Eric had not heard that condition prognosis since I first read of it in a Joseph Waumbaugh book. It fits soooo many.

Directing traffic was one of the most aggravating assignments of my career. Someone posted that we wouldn't believe some of the stupid things he'd seen drivers do, but I would have ZERO problem believing him.

If my utility truck was parked there with the visible signage, I would be doing the lowest duties possible while waiting to testify at the lawsuits.

I think the police need to subpoena her phone records.
When I see an example of poor driving, I can usually see the phone in hand, or the driver looking down at a text.

The only place I feel safe driving is on a race track.

Unless you are driving the jet dryer and Juan Pablo Montoya is on track.
