WI finally getting CCW

Long time waiting! Just need Scott W to sign...I for one am glad to join the ranks of the other 48.
I don't know if I will carry often, but it is nice to know I can ... Legally.

October or November is the effective date with Wisconsin's CCW. We have a training class scheduled in northern Wisconsin (Minocqua) in a few weeks. Approx $50 fee for permit...valid for 5 years. Can travel loaded in vehicles (finally.)

Carry into taverns & supper clubs is OK but can't consume alcohol.

But don't you know? ANYBODY who carries into a liquor serving establishment will IMMEDIATELY consume a gallon of grain alcohol and slaughter the other patrons! Or at least that's what the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Fraternal Order of Police claimed about similar legislation here in Ohio...

I'd Like To Say "THANKS" To .....

....The Forum member who reminded me to contact my
state Senator & Representative. Just my word wouldn't blow
any skirts up, but if a bunch of us remind our legislators of our
wishes, well, that carries some weight.
To my fellow Wisconsin-ites, you get a job well-done award.
I guess it's time to thank my rep.s now, too. TACC1

Great Responses from Sen., and Rep.

When I sent e-mails concerning CCW to my state Senator and
Representative, I got prompt replies. Both of them thanked me and
made some thoughtful comments about the CCW issue. Got a PDF
format explanation from my representative about what the
bill contains.
I sent them a "thank-you for a "job-well-done."

I am starting to tool up and schedule the class.
Been a long time coming.
You should hear my SIL WEAC members bitch. All I can do is smile.

Wisconsin Concealed Weapons, The Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association

I sure hope some way some how this puts some pressure on IL.

It probably won't though.
According to Quinn, Illinois is "different" (from all 49 OTHER states). Apparently, you're all violent criminals who can't be trusted to carry firearms... or at least that's the impression I get from him.

I'm always tickled when a coward hiding behind men with guns, tells other people that they don't need a gun to protect themselves.

This is Wisconsin. Our GIRL SCOUTS can consume a gallon of grain alcohol and still function just fine. Heck find me a Wisconsinite that wasn't drinking before they were 14 years old....

But yes, the tavern thing is fantastic. Now we have to get the silly school zone rules changed. If a person can carry, let them carry and not worry about walking past a school they can't even see 2 blocks away.

I wrote to my reps also. Don't know if it helped or not, but finally we can CC!

the cased transport law workaround alone makes it worth the price of admission. its so easy to have a blonde moment and get pinched for that one.
the tavern part is great although it'll likely be a little pinch prone. Thats where you need a sidearm the most in some of these establishments.

just curious. is the Gov going to sign. That ought to make the leftests very happy at the unions. all you right wing gun nuts are now going to be armed and bother those poor defenseless union guys who assemble to peacfully protest a tyranical governor who wants to control out of control spending...I can just see Johney's teacher... "and the Governor today made life more dangerous for you childern...You now have to not only worry about school bullies you have to worry that their parents will shoot your poor Mommy when she complains that you were picked on."
