I told my wife I was going to post this one to the forum.
After almost 50 years being married she really only gives me the stink eye occasionally when I buy a gun, but she took the cake today and I burst out laughing when she did.
A forum member had a WTB for a model 29 and I just happened to have just what he was looking for. Wasn't a gun that I had a great affinity for just a ANIB 29. Long story short we made a deal for the gun. Meanwhile back at the ranch I tell my wife this morning I'm selling the gun and she starts complaining about me doing that and I just started laughing and said " you complain when I buy one now your complaining when I sell one". I'm going to have to start checking my food I think she's thinking how much she can make after I'm gone....:D

Not a highjack, but a note about a wife, (I've only had one).

She has her own small collection of firearms, a 44 mag, nice detective special, and a couple of carry firearms. She don't complain about mine. :-)

Have a blessed day,

Leon

My wife usually makes no comment when I buy another gun. But she did hit me for buying he a second string of pearls! That was late 1999, right before Y2K. I told her she was getting a generator and snowshoes for Christmas. (I already had 2 generators!) Our son was home on leave, and still laughs every time she has pearls on around him!!

My bride doesn't complain. I never dip into to the family coffers and I never buy a gun on credit.

I buy good deals when I find them, even if its not something I'm looking for. I sell or trade them for something I want. Never pass up a deal.

On a couple of sad occasions I went to the safe and sold off several to cover some shortfall. Easy come, easy go.

I'm so blessed with mine :)

Every time I buy a new gun the wife says "why do you need another one". I explain its one I don't have and she just says hummph. Then I say "why do you need 7 horses, you can only ride one?" She says I love them all.

When I finally sell a gun she says "Don't sell it you love that gun". I say "well I don't need it any more and I want to take the $ and buy another".

Last year I spent a bundle on stuff for my boat. I told her I only spent half of what she spends a month on her horses." She said its OK, buy whatever you want."

50 years next June....she's a keeper.

It took me three tries before I found one that gets the whole gun thing. She's got a few of he own and she is a good shot, especially with an M-16. Here w/ family on a quail hunt and target shoot.

My wife doesn't say a word when I buy one and in fact she bought me a few over the years. Over the last 10 years I've actually sold more than I bought. I've still got plenty but decided to get rid of some of the ones I never used.

She: "Why do you need another gun?"

Me: "Why do you need another pair of shoes?"

She: " (crickets) "

(This conversation doesn't take place very often, but when it does I remind her that I buy my toys using my "allowance", while her purchases, not just shoes, but everything else that she desires, comes out of the household budget, and that I never veto any expenditure that she wants to make.)

First time me and my ex of around 27 years did anything together it was shooting.

We had a date that night, and I was having second thoughts, didn't want to waste a Saturday night on a not good time.

Called her earlier that day and asked if she wanted to go shooting, she said yes. First gun she ever shot was a 6" Python. She did really well with it too.

We ended up having a most excellent night.

Same deal here......wife learned early on:
Guns are just another form of cash.

A shooting buddy of mine runs the loading floor at the local ammunition manufacturer. Every 6 - 8 weeks he takes a load of ammo to a dealer about four hours drive away. he always comes back with something new from the showroom.

He reckons his wife doesn't notice what he comes in with and even if she did, she has no idea what guns he owns so he justs tells her it is something he took up for a repair.

About a year ago this dealer had a customer who wanted a particular pistol, one he kew my buddy had and seldom used. He called several times over a few weeks to arrange a trade, and my buddy's wife picked up on the transaction. Come the day my buddy swapped his pistol for a new Tangoglio .40 that was coloured blue. Arriving home his wife asks to see the pistol as she was sick and tired of all the arguing back and forth over the phone that had taken place over the past few weeks.

My mate opens the gun box, she looks inside and says"Very nice".

Some time later my buddy makes another ammmo delivery and buys another gun. This one too is a Tanfoglio and comes in a blue colour.

On reaching home rather late that evening my buddy enters the house. His wife spies the gun container and askes what he has there.

Thinking that she won't know the difference between the two pistols he says "It's that pistol I swaped for a couple of months ago. It wasn't working right so I took it up to be looked at". He then opens the box so she can see the blue pistol.

"That's a different blue colour" she says.

Caught red handed :D:D:D:D:D:D

11/9/2020 was our 29th annv, knew her for 5 years before wedding. First night we met, I told her, I would show you mine if she showed me hers. She pulled out a SW36 I pulled out my PPK. S he is an avid hunter, birds, bear, boar, deer, hopefully an elk hunt for 30 annv. I bought her a Winchester super grade 70 in 338 WM for a planned Brown Bear hunt, then my surg cancelled it. Since we.met I buy 2 of everything. She fished AK with 4" 500 on her hip. A guide asked if she wanted to sit with me on a Black Bear hunt, I laughed and said she was the most dangerous thing in the woods. Many years ago I shot a doe that needed to be finished, she snuck behind it with a knife and took care of it, my 16 year old Godson said "You sleep with her"? She dresses, and butchers all of our game secondary to my balance problem from surgery. She is and will be taken care of Always. Be Safe,
