Will Obama move to outlaw knives?

Politicians are realists. At least most of them are. And this isn't the UK.

Even the old UK was not the new UK at one point.

I can even think of a future (2084?) where two intellectuals would be having a conversation, "Remember, our History books used to mention that there was, a long time ago (or not so very long) that we used to have an Amendment between the 1st and the 3rd but for the life of me I can't remember what it was about." "Did you Google it?"
"Yes. I Googled Amendments but Wicky-pedia said that back in the early days of the Revolution, they were bad at arithmetic and probably just forgot to write anything under the 2A heading."

Earlier this year, our state senator introduced a knife control bill:
SB 740 :: Oregon Legislature Bill Tracker - Your Government - The Oregonian
He was ahead of the curve.
BTW, he's an ardent 2A supporter and the bill was to show the silliness of much that's being proposed re: firearms.
The scary part is now it may well advance:
Requires criminal history record check for transfer of knife from knife dealer to purchaser.
Prohibits transferring knife to disqualified purchaser.
Punishes by maximum of one year's imprisonment, $6,250 fine, or both.
Prohibits transfer of knife in violation of criminal history record check requirement.
Punishes by maximum of one year's imprisonment, $6,250 fine, or both.
Requires Department of State Police to maintain registry of all knives transferred in state.
Directs department to establish rules implementing registration requirement.
Applies to transfers of knives initiated on or after January 1, 2015.
