Will the new M&P Bodyguard be a winner?

I think the old Bodyguard is a winner. Very accurate and the laser has its place in low light shooting. The laser is gravy as far as I am concerned. I can shoot my little BG just as well with either sighting system. Master that laser and you can achieve some extraordinary accuracy.

The heck with pics... you should have bought it!! I know I would have.. :)

I almost did buy it, but was on the fence for three reason.

1. The lady was a %#$%$&^%#@^%^*%#$@^$@
2. Trigger pull
3. Don't know why but im not a fan of hammers

But I was thinking about it, and decided I will prob just go ahead and get it next time if they have it.MAYBE lol.

Side minor issue. I want dot sights. So hopefully trigicon make something for it. Also I want a viridian laser

Makes perfect sense to me!!!

I too hope that sights will be available for the BG. I've painted my stock sights with white nail polish for quicker acquisition. Granted it is a close range shooter, but with or without the laser, the stock sights are tough to see.

With all due respect sir, but this is BS. I wouldn't use it for home defense, that's for sure. But in the time of need a properly employed .380 is better than nothing!

I like it and will probably get one.

x2. I don't carry as often as I used to. Mainly because it's a PITA to strap on a holster and make sure I'm wearing carry friendly clothes. However, since getting my BG380 , I tend to throw it in my pocket more often than not when leaving the house. Simply put, a 380 in the pocket is worth way more than 45 left at home.

BTW, Lots of folks beat up on the 380 round as being "just better than a pointy stick" but I've never seen any of them volunteer to get in front of one with a catchers mitt!

The biggest problem with the 380 isn't the size of the bullet (or powder behind it), but the availability of the ammo that sucks! I've been checking 4 Walmarts and 3 LGS for 2 months. Nothing!
The reason I wouldn't use it for home defense is not the bullet. I'm not reloading if there is 2 to 4 people breaking in my house in the middle of the night. I want to have way more than I need already in the gun.

It is super scarce in my area. Though i can find lots of buffalo bore +p stuff. I shoot a couple of magazines of the +p once in a while, fun but uncomfortable for sure! I found some Reman stuff from freedom munitions. One out of six required a double pull to make it go boom in my body guard.

Not to sidetrack the thread but when I got my BG380 a year ago, there was NO 380 ammo to be found anywhere. In fact, I ordered, dies, 500 pieces of once fired brass and 500 cast bullets before the gun even arrived.
I still like the economy of shooting reloads but do pick-up a box of factory fodder now and then when I see it. It's not as scarce as it used to be. I'd also argue that the BG380 isn't a "target gun". I usually get two-three range practice sessions out of 100 rounds.

I'll keep checking Wallyworld, but I'm considering canceling my BG. I have the LCP already and it's been well tested for function. I don't have enough ammo to test a new 380.

In my opinion, if all S&W did is take away the laser and the pelican-looking dust cover and provide a second magazine, the pistol is a winner. If there are other improvements, so much the better.
