It happens to all of us, Joe.

Sigma will not be replaced!!!! period end of subject,,,,, I have seen the co. emails concerning this topic. Sigma is bread and butter..... Somebody has to pay for pro and pc..... lmfao

I dry fired an SD40 at a local gun shop, Shooters Firearms and Gun Accessories

The trigger is as good as, or better than my SWaMPy 9c. Much lighter and crisper than my 9VE. It is priced between the Sigma and the M&P:

Sigma VE $299.99
SD $369.99
S&W M&P $479.99

Who didn't have the disposable income to take one home...sigh.

I'm seeing SD40's as low as $369.00 out the door, civilian sales from high volume dealers.

At that price point the Sigma VE is deader than the Dodo bird. Dealers would have to sell the VE's cheaper than Hi-Points to get them out of the case.

Heck, At that price point all of the 9mm and .40 S&W, $500.00 Austrian Tupperware is deader than the Dodo bird.

There you go Smyrna! Lower your prices $200.00 per pistol...Or DIE!

I love the .41 MAG. Shot it out of a Ruger Red Hawk. You could load it like a .44 and it shot like a .357. I can group a rapid fire with a .357 and a .41 but not a .44. The guys who said they could group a .44 on a ripid fire, always had a bad day when they went to prove it.
Just saying...

If the Sigma is to stick around, more accessory manufacturers need to get on board and start putting out more products for it.

"If the Sigma is to stick around, more accessory manufacturers need to get on board and start putting out more products for it."

If manufacturers haven't gotten on board in the last 10 years or so. Why would they now suddenly put out more accessories for a pistol in the last few months of it's existence, before it goes extinct?

The Sigma is over boys. The only reason Smith Claims otherwise. Is that they don't want to be stuck with the last few pallets of them sitting in the warehouse or have to sell the remaining stock to CDNN for $50.00 a pistol.

Gander MTN is running the same special on the sigma with the laser lyte for $349 after rebate. I think it's here to stay with the SD, and the M&P... Time will tell for sure...Who is right, eh.... spricks

Which'd be great except for the fact that there are places selling the SD40 for $340.00

S&W Model SD40 Pistol .40 Cal 16+1 Mags 220400

Buds has 9mm SD9's listed for $389.00 Delivered. There's what? $5.00 difference when you get though adding the sales tax at Gander?

Give it up Sigma guys...It's over. Nobody is going to say. Oh golly, I'll save between $5.00 and $40.00, Give me the one with the Awful trigger and ****ty plastic sights that DON"T interchange with the M&P and the proprietary rail.

I think we need to coin a new term.

Sigma Chauvinist

One who cannot wake up and smell the evolution of the design.

A person that desperately clings to an inferior design and who is under the delusion it will be cheaper and will remain available forever.

It's only a matter of time before the name of this section of the forum is changed from Sigma to SD and Sigma threads are handled here as quaint historical foot notes.

The tooling used in manufacturing does not last forever. When the tooling for Sigma wears out, I doubt it will be replaced.

The SD is just the natural evolution of the Sigma. We've gone from the "F/C/V" to the "E" to the "VE" and now to the "SD". S&W finally gave the gun a good trigger and useable accessory rail, combined with a tritium front. Remember what S&W originally sought to do with Sigma - combine cutting-edge ergonomics, 3rd-gen DAO, and Glock-like simplicity. All previous efforts fell short of the mark, and the design ultimately failed in the Law Enforcement market. I think S&W may have something good here in the SD. It won't be a LE gun (the M&P IS the "Anti-Glock" that the Sigma and SW99 failed to be), but I think it will appeal to non-LE customers because of it's simplicity. They DID get the trigger right, and it feels (to me) like a SW6946.

I don't hold out much hope for a .45ACP version - they couldn't do it with the original Sigma (it started life as a .40S&W with 9mm scaled-in), and that design has been around for over a decade. I would REALLY love to see a .357Sig version of the SD.......

I need to thank myself for being smart enough not to be stupid enough to compare the sigma to anything but the sigma....talk about stupid....nope I'm to smart to go there.....wherever that is?

I looked at the SD in 40 and liked it and the price was 435 plus PA sales TAX . I will waite a while

I just bought an SD40 for $340.00, Delivered 2nd day air. On Gunbroker from a guy with over 4000 sales and an A+ rating. So yes it is possible to find them pretty cheap.

Should be at my FFL Dealer Thursday.

Now to figure out if the Wolff Steel Guide rod for the Sigma VE will fit it and track down a Ameriglo M&P Operator rear sight.

So the SD is "Gen4" Sigma? ;)

There is enough borrowed/new about this pistol to warrant a new name IMO. Like the FN FNP v FNX. It's not just the same dog w a new haircut, it's a new breed? Like Siberians and Malamutes; both "huskies", but not the same dog...

Whatever, I like 'em. Have put a few hundred rounds each through a SD9 and SD40; I prefer the SD9. Works fine w my Surefire X200 attached, and I am waiting for my new S&W Micro weapon light to arrive. I prefer it to some "better" guns I have and have had (M&P, Glock, SIG, HK), and now carry it daily.

Please post a link to where you found info or were
able to buy the new S&W Micro Weapon light?

I've yet to see anything about it except one picture of a new weapon light attached to an SD in the sales PDF file on S&W's website.

I've been very curoius about this new weapon light. I had been considering the Streamlight TRL-3 for my SD40, but I'd certainly like to see the spec and price point of the S&W Micro first.

Never mind posting a S&W MICRO link. After a little searching I found out they were available all over the place and that CTD has the S&W Micro90 weapon light for as low as $57.00.

I'll have to think about whether I want the Streamlight TRL-3 or the S&W Micro90 now.
