If you find a 9mm shield for $449 or less, buy it! Its a sweet shooter. The .40 is nice also but a bit snappy.

Interesting that 26% of respondents on an enthusiast board won't buy a shield.

I guess those are the 3913 owners. ;) Regards 18DAI

I have a 3913 and a Shield and there isn't much difference at all in size, weight or round capacity.

I bought one because it was quite inexpensive at $335.

With Shields now going for $500 and up, there's no way I would buy one. That same money will buy a very nice 3913, which is a better gun across the board.

Better trigger, better balance, better recoil, better sights, better safety, better track record, better looking, and it doesn't hang out of battery. ;)

The 3913 is worth an extra $200 all day long.

I spend so much on Whiskey and Food who cares. I paid over MSRP but don't worry about it. I wanted it. I worked for it. I have it. I love it. And I'd buy it again.

I got a Shield 9mm last week

Paid MSRP, and waited 7 months. It seemed like longer. :-)

Got a .40 at $20 over MSRP. Very pleased. With my 9 mm barrel and a case of 9 mm ammo, I can schedule range time with minimal pain.

I'm not considering buying one... Already have the .40.

But, knowing how much I like it, I'd pay MSRP if I didn't have one.

except mine is a 9mm

I voted yes and paid MSRP 2 months ago. I have been enjoying the Shield while others wait to find one so I have no regrets.

The supply situation is even worse in MA, which is limited to a MA-compliant model. Most dealers in eastern MA aren't even taking names for their waiting lists any more.

I voted 9mm because I just bought one last week for $409 cash price at my local gun shop.

Yes, I put my name on the waiting list to get one for my wife at my lgs and got the call 3 weeks later and ended up paying $465 out the door. I liked it so much that I put my name on the list again so hopefully I will get the call in the next few weeks.

I wont pay a fortune but ill pay a little more than I "should". My time is valuable and if I spend $50 to save weeks/months looking for a cheap one...what have I been doing?

I don't even know what msrp is. I found mine at reasonable (not deal of the century) prices.

Until I can actually get one in my hand to see how it feels, I can't say yes or no. How it fits and points are my critical factors. Upgrades and tuning can always be done if required as long as the first two items are acceptable.

If yes, I'll go for the 40, and eventually get a 9mm barrel for flexibility.

My dealer quoted $420 6 months ago when I ordered one, just picked it up and paid $420.

My LGS called & said the .40 S&W Shield that I was on a 6 month waiting list for was in. I arrived & when one of the owners brought it out he told me the price was $559.00!! I told him "No Thanks".

I found one over MSRP today at the local gun show. After really giving it some thought and thinking about walking away I decided it is so hard to find them at this point I decided to buy it. In the end I am very happy just to have it in my hand. Oh ya it was the 9mm. If I can find anymore anywhere near MSRP I will buy them too. Great money maker on GB.

I was between that and the XDS. There were over 30 XDS there today. I just love the fit and shot of the Shield.

This should now be your "former" LGS.

I paid more than list for my 9mm Shield...I just simply got tired of waiting more than 5 months and grabbed the only one at a gun show a few months back. No regrets either.

At the same gun show yesterday in Fort Worth, some private owner was asking $650 for a NIB 9mm Shield...didn't notice any takers. Another dealer at the show was asking $499 for an M&P 22...its gotten ridiculous. All signs indicate that the clowns in Congress will not institute any type of gun ban, only possibly extending background checks. If these idiots would just hold a vote and put the issue to bed, maybe then we'll see a relaxation in prices. But until that happens, things will be up in the air (including prices).
