Worried about my cat

My cat Blue was acting poorly when I got home yesterday evening from a short time away during New Years. She has a cat door and has done fine with me going away for years. Anyhow took her to the Vet today. Vet said she was Jaundice, liver not working right. Possibly got into something and gave a huge list of stuff. I keep stuff like antifreeze, pesticides etc closed up, but, she roams the neighborhood a bit. Vet said its had to tell what or where or could be just plain old liver failure. Only hope is a IV of fluids to flush her out and she if she gets better. She is at the vets now. First 24 hours should tell if she is going to get better.

No idea how old she is found here down by the river begging for attention and food. Got some food and gave her some. When she was still there after a few days took her home. That was over 7 years ago. She has always been a great cat. If she gets worse they will call so I can comfort her. I hated to leave her there alone.

THIS SUCKS
Praying for you and your kitty [emoji76][emoji76] my two little dogs, Logan and Jackson are hoping for the best and we all send hugs and comfort to you and Blue..[emoji120][emoji120][emoji120][emoji120]

Hope your cat hangs in there and gets better soon.

We've got two dogs...15 year old chocolate lab and 5 year old Jack Russel/Whippet mix.

We have one cat. Think she's about five now. Something happens to her gonna be sad times.

I hope your cat recovers.

The responsibility we feel for our pets is more than for nearly anything else.

Our last cat lived 19 happy years. The two with us now are aged 15 and 20 and are in excellent health and spirits.

They are housecats. They NEVER go outside - at all.

Same with the Yellow Lab. She NEVER goes outside without being under our direct supervision, since we have little influence or control over other people or animals.

I hope your cat gets better, and that you nail the cat door shut.

We lost our Siamese last year at age 20. She never left the house except when we moved or when she went to the vet.

Free roaming cats are subject to flattening by Goodyear, consumption by bigger critters, and all manner of poisoning. They also are tough on birds.

I hope Blue gets well and I can certainly understand your worry. I don't have a cat but there is a cat here that has a human..;). This guy showed up about two years ago. I was sitting on my patio when he walked across my back yard he was nothing but skin and bones. I said well hello there, across the yard he came running up in my lap snuggled in and started purring. I started feeding him and taking care of him and he has never left. I can't let him in the house because my wife is allergic to cats so I put a pet door in my shop and that's were him and I hang out. We just call him "Shop Cat".

You've done your best for Blue, the rest is in God's hands. I've had cats my entire life, moreless. Growing up we always seemed to have one or two around. I had a couple of black ones show up within 6 months of each other & they lived with me for 18 years. My neighbor passed away 2-3 years ago and his two black cats moved to my porch, no idea of their age, but I fed them until they disappeared one at a time.

Brought another one home that I found wandering around "inside" a Dollar General Store (called him General Dollar). He disappeared when the new neighbor moved. Then another one showed up shortly after that. I still had food, so I fed him. Now I guess I have another "porch kitty".

As long as the Lord keeps sending them to me, I'll keep feeding them. I'm not sure we ever "own" a cat like we do dogs. My two 18 year olds never knew they could run away, which is why I probably had them so long.

I sure hope things turn out good for Blue (oh yeah, I had a grey tiger stripe show up 20 years or so ago I called Blue). I'm guessing the Good Lord send needy cats to those of us that love them, when they need us.

So sorry to hear about Blue. I will definitely be praying for him.My orange tabby, Hector, died a couple of years ago.i got him when he was 6 weeks old and he was 19 when he died. He developed kidney failure and for 2 years I took him to the vet twice a week for fluids and he lived a good quality of life till he passed away. And now, out of nowhere, I take my shepherd, Molly, to have blood work and her liver enzymes were 3 times normal, which indicates liver damage, and she has always been as healthy as can be.They put her on Denamarin, for 4 weeks and will check again. i have learned that a cat or dog's liver is the only organ that has the ability to regenerate cells so maybe if Blue can make it for 24 hours, he will be ok. i hope so..

I pray all turns out well. I am an avowed cat guy and I hate to see them suffer.

Good on you for caring for her and keep us posted.

X2. I have 5 here @ the farm and they earn their keep.

Cat Poisons.

1. Lilies (Lilium species)
2.Spot-on flea/tick medication for dogs
3.Household Cleaners
4.Antidepressant Medications
5.Essential Oils
6.Anti-inflammatory Medications
7.Mouse & Rat Poisons (rodenticides)
8.Stimulant Medications (e.g., for ADD/ADHD)
9.Onions & Garlic
10.Vitamin D Overdose

I have this List & the one for dogs on refrigerator in the shop.

They are both from the Pet Poison Helpline website which does have good info which has saved one of the dogs here also.

The Vet called. She wasn't better and having trouble breathing. It was time. Sucks. Went there and she purred a few seconds when I picked her up. Held her for a long while. She was really weak and having trouble breathing. She tried to get down and cried when I wouldn'tt let her. She had to pee and didn't want to do it on me. I could have cared less. Vet came in and ended it.
Sometimes things in life suck. Have lost people, dogs, cats. Hate it.
