Would you keep this revolver??

tomtheturner

I was going to let this thread drop, and forget about this whole thing, but I think you guys should know how this came out.
Once the seller had possession of the revolver, and my money this turned into a nightmare. I did get most of my money back, BUT upon receipt of the gun he now says that I did not notify him within his time limitation of my intent to return it, even though I notified him well under his 72 hour limit.
I was accused of tampering with the gun, and even accused of changing the cylinder. He said he had HD photos of the damaged area to prove it. - If he had HD photos of the damage, why didn't he post them in his original GB description. - The front red ramp of the sight was loose when I received it. I didn't notice it, but when my son picked up the revolver the sight slid out of position. He just slid it back in. He made the comment, "it looks like the red part has shrunk with age." During shipment back to him the red ramp fell out, even though I packed it better than he did. He charged me $50.00 to reinstall it.
The worst part though was: that before he would send me a refund I had to post Positive Feedback for him on GunBroker.

" I will deduct the repairs from my check to you. Leave positive feedback for me as I did for you or I will send the gun back to you. As soon as feedback is left I will send your check. "

I tried to think of what I could have done different, so that this would not have happened, but once one party has the gun, and the money there is nothing that you can do. I would have liked to have said "you know, " but I am sick & disabled, and have a limited fixed income. I needed the money back.
Come to find out I was dealing with an individual, and not a Business. Even though he does on average almost a GunBroker transaction per day for years he was not a "Dealer."
I had bought that gun in good faith. Did absolutely nothing wrong, and it cost me $135.00. However, I guess that I feel fortunate. I got most of my money back. I got rid of a "bad" gun, and I learned from this experience.
All of the back and forth "conversations" with this man, being called untruthfull, being accused of all of all kinds of immoral illegal things, worrying about the refund, having to take three trips out, when it is hard for me to get out has certainly taken a toll on me, and now I just want to get this behind me. The only good thing that I hope comes from this: is I hope that you can take something away from this experience too.
Best Wishes,
Tom

I would send it back:
-I would rather lose $100, recoup my losses, and go back for another try at finding a nice one. Otherwise, every time you look at this gun, it is going to make you mad...you will be unhappy with your purchase, and your anger toward the seller will return.
-That is not a normal looking cylinder...and the plier marks.
-$900? that gun is definitely not worth that as other have mentioned.
-I bought this '73 29-2 below last weekend for $600 at the local gun show...not to make you feel bad...but be patient and the right gun will come along. When it does, you will be pleased with your return purchase, and the loss of $100. Granted, this was a good deal at $600, but this is what an $800-$900 gun should look like.
-Heck I would even call the guy and tell him he is paying shipping for misrepresentation.
-By the way, he still has another 29-2 for sale at a great price. PM if you are interested...I forgot the details...barrel or finish...but there is no box.

Tom...sorry...I did not read your last post. Again, PM me if you are looking for something nice. You are in IN and I am IL...(I work in NW Indiana). We can try to make this right for you.

Also, what is the User Name of this upstanding Seller (you can PM it to me)....

^^^I agree with above...it would be a joy to see this guy get into some hot water. You seem like a sincere and honest person. They would listen to you. Heck, I was going to get a bogus User ID and just start bidding on his guns...the fees and hassle will make him quit :)

There is a Gun Show coming up shortly in Indianapolis. I am going to try to go, and see what they have available. I am not worried about being able to replace it, and I am in no hurry.
That was going to be my one really nice P&R deep blue revolver. I am not a collecter, more an accumulator.
I am not going to reveal his name. I have no doubt an attorney, of his choosing, would be knocking on my door. Whether, right or wrong, I would have to then get an attorney, & he has lots more money than I do. It would be another lose - lose situation.
Thank you for your offered help, and good wishes. I just want to get this behind me now.
Tom

I did not offer advice before the return but I will say what I would have done.

I would have kept the gun and been happy that I did not lose more on the deal. Wear is normal on a blued gun. Shoot one a few times and you will have a ring on the cylinder.

Idiot marks happen due to mishandling. Different people have different ideas about the worth and condition of things, including guns and cars.

Now you sent it back, it cost you days of concern and you are losing $135. My friend, that is an expensive lesson but you are lucky it was not worse. I feel it would have been cheaper to keep the gun. After all, it was not going to be a safe queen and you were going to use it.

I have ate worse on guns.

YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR FEEDBACK ON GB ! ! IT'S A SIMPLE CLICK. THIS SELLER IS DESPICABLE GLAD THAT YOU RECOUPED MOST OF YOUR MONEY.........
