WOW!!! Apex FSS&T Kit.

Hold the phone there S&WProtected. The PRO series is a whole different bucket of pickles. They have much nicer triggers in them than the regular M&P line.

Don't be too quick to "upgrade" that pistol. Shoot it some first. You may just find the trigger to be acceptable.

That's what I thought too, and was one of the reasons we picked up the pro 4.25. Was very disappointed. So unless the 5" has a different trigger than the 4.25"....plan on upgrading

I had to put a trigger in my XDM 5.25 as well, even tho its labelled "competition".

My 5" Pro CORE was test fired 5/13, the trigger is better than a brand new M&P (but not "revolutionary" as proclaimed on some of their advertizing). The reason I went for the Apex was to shorten the travel and reset length. I also like the feel of a solid trigger with the "Glock" style trigger safety as opposed the S&W two piece trigger with the swinging lower part. I had the Apex in mind when I bought the Pro but thought "well, I'll give the stock trigger a fair shot (pun intended). I ran a couple of hundred rounds through it and decided to put the Apex in. It would be tough to go back. The only way I would is if I wanted to compete in a completely stock class. (but where's the fun in that??)

I was shooting my M&P .40 today with a friend that does LOTS of shooting. He felt my trigger was too light. We had it checked. I had bought the gun used, and was pleased to learn that it already had the Apex kit in it, as well as a polish job on the trigger. I really like the feel of the trigger, but am concerned about it being light. What can I change to increase trigger pull?

Apex includes a stiffer spring with their trigger/sear kit. If the original spring is left in the geometry of the new sear makes the trigger very light. The person who put the Apex kit in may have left the original spring in. My trigger pull is 4.5 lbs. with Apex's kit installed (including their spring). I didn't test it with the old one. I'm sure you could buy just a spring from them. "Polish jobs" can be dangerous or scary (usually both) depends on what they polished. If you don't feel comfortable it's best to consult a gunsmith.

Yep. I tried the factory trigger spring first. I was afraid the trigger wouldn't return to its forward position to reset after a shot because it was so light. I put the lighter Apex trigger spring in. Perfect.

That's what I think about my 5'' Pro. how could the trigger be any nicer? TF 1/30/13 Came with rough tex. backstrap too.
It's my 40FS I'm considering the Apex for.

This is why I suggested shooting it first. He may indeed not like the trigger, but it is better than the regular guns. I liked the Pro .40 I shot, but I only put a few rounds through it.

I also like the solid trigger like you do. I just don't want to see someone spend money they don't need to and I've seen a lot of guys do "upgrades" before they ever shoot the gun. I'm just offering a different point of view.
