WOW-Ruger is taking it on the chin

Until almost two years ago I was a true News junkie ( Fox ) was on almost all day. When we moved rural and ditched the cabel bill ( not missed ) . I still like the news but don't have the overload. So I don't get the views as much of the imbicile bobble heads.
And I'll bet you feel a lot more sane for it!

Also, there is very little press about the young civilian hero who stopped the killer's psychotic, murderous rampage, by using the hero's own personal firearm.
You're mixing two people. The guy who had the shootout is probably about 60 and looks like Santa Claus. The young guy was the driver of the truck

Every time someone mentions this tragedy they state "Ruger Assault Rifle" Old Bill must be rolling over in his grave. Why the need to identify the brand-other than pure vindictiveness and a desire to tarnish a legitimate company.
The reason that occurred to me first is that people unknowledgeable of firearms generally might not be aware of where model name stops and brand name begins.

Just a thought.

I saw the older gentleman (who shot the madman) this morning on the morning news, and he was in tears about the victims and his shooting of the madman. Maybe when you have to kill someone, the press will give you some privacy to grieve. I for one hope I am never in such a situation and if I am I hope the press GETS OFF MY LAWN.

My old friend Jeff Cooper said that if You have to shoot a bad guy bring out the tears and sad looks and sympathy while talking to the press. Once They leave open the champagne.

I have read one reference, and only one, and I can't recall the provider, that mentioned that it was also an AR style rifle . . .
Yep... understood. I'm wondering why the madman's gun gets a brand name & model number attached while the hero's gun is barely mentioned in the media... almost covered-up.

Yes, I actually do know the answer. ;)

Heck, CNN's story has changed a dozen times. First they didn't mention the good guy. Then they claimed he "scared" the shooter off. Then they claimed that the "autopsy shows" but then the sheriff said there was no autopsy yet so CNN had to change the story again. They have trouble acknowledging that a law-abiding citizen, not a SUPER cop, shot and stopped an ongoing murder spree. At this point they are claiming that the shooter suicided but the good guy says he shot him 3 times - once to the neck-head region. We'll see once the facts are actually in but at this point all the lame-stream media have gotten it wrong in serial fashion and the theme of their errors is oddly anti-good guy with a gun effectively intervening........

In 1974 I was involved in a gun fight where quite a few shots were exchanged (relative term considering everyone was armed w/a revolver) between the cops and the bad guys. The media wanted to interview me but I refused, basing my case on departmental policy, but they did not camp out on my lawn or otherwise bother me. I really feel bad for the good guy here. He cannot even leave his house w/o being mobbed by reporters and now everyone knows where the poor guy lives. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

When I hear Ruger mentioned anywhere it makes me think of the mini-14. When I think of the mini-14 it makes me think of that 80's TV show "The A-team". When I think of the A-team it makes me chuckle. Therefore when I hear the name Ruger it makes me chuckle.
I loved that show. Years later, I finally got around to getting a mini 14 for myself, I discovered why they shot so much and hit so little on that show.

The 1986 Miami shootout involved a Ruger mini 14, but I don't remember the news media back then making a stink about the brand/make/style of firearms used like they do today...

What I find most concerning is mainstream news media failed to mention the fact that the nut job shooting up the church was stopped by good guy with a gun, who happened to be (verified by the NRA) as a NRA member & former instructor. They seemed so focused on "Guns" instead of the real issue of the USAF not sharing this guys criminal history with the FBI data base that would have legally prevented him from owning/buying firearms.

Same here. Cut the dish about 5 years ago. No cable either. Very slow DSL is all we have. Big screen is dark about 90% of the time. We pay for the streaming we want and that doesn't include any news. I can get all the news I want from the internet and select what news that is, which isn't much. If I don't like the source I just don't go there.

Makes my life very simple.

To Hell with what the deranged sicko madman used. I want to know what the hero, former NRA instructor Stephen Willeford, used to stop the carnage.

He didn't say so it wasn't important to him. He probably could have taken the guy out with a Garand and irons.

The only people who care what brand, and type the gun is are not people who buy guns anyway. I doubt it has any affect on Ruger's market share, it may even increase sales.

Since the media is so knowledgeable about firearms and I'm sure they just wanted to show us all their expertise.

The Anti-gunners will do anything necessary to achieve their goals. In certain respects they are much more savvy in getting what they want then we are - because we think on the straight and narrow, while they think outside the box. Anti-gunners are ruthless, shameless and bold and unless we fight back with equal tactics we are doomed. We can hope, wish and ignore, but it will happen!

This is why I always push any gun owner I know to join the NRA. Certainly NOT a perfect Organization but it's about all we have. I laugh when gun owners "find" a reason that pisses them off enough not to join but in the long run they are only hurting us and themselves.

These days the 2nd amendment and the Federal law means less than public opinion. Just look how the Left does NOT obey laws now! They ONLY obey the ones they like. Honest law abiding gun owners are many times not able to think like a Radical - that's why they constantly advance their cause.

They will do anything, true.

Have you ever noticed the left (concerning anything) never obtain their goals with intelligent discussion or ideas? Every goal they ever won has been obtained through bullying, intimidation and lies.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to renew my NRA

I remember enjoying that show. They sure were terrible shots, though. They fired thousands of rounds in every show, but never hit anyone.
