hiya, guys. my sis is buying a place in the mountains. i have her looking for a hunting camp i can buy.
i'd rent it out for the fall, but i'd live there in the summer.
the climate has changed here. it was over 100 every dat in june n july.
i can't deal with that.
so, i was hoping you could tell me the laws. i'm used to open carrying n shooting in my yard.
can i do that there?
i'm loking at places off the road. no chance of help from cops. i'll need my guns.
so, tell me anything i need to know, please.

Wyoming Loves their guns and the folks who carry them.

You can basically do what you want there.

It's nice to have Free States scattered about the Country.

Good Luck and let me know when you decide to rent out the
place for fall and winter seasons. I'm interested.

Chuck

We have open carry and constitutional carry if you want to conceal it (you do have to be a resident for ayear to carry concealed without a permit). Firearms in vehicles are fine, long gun, handgun, loaded or unloaded, concealed or not, wherever you want. Shoot where you want and what you want, just be safe about it. No NICS check if you get a concealed carry permit. You can PM me if you have specific questions.

All seems to have been covered. Oh..one other thing. No state income tax in Wy either. I live away from people so almost always have a gun on me. If you move here..it does get pretty warm in some areas..Saw a 100 a couple times this summer. No humidity to speak of. Don't go too high..you may not see too much of that idea called summer. Had snow in the mountains in the last few days. Oh the people are friendly...

Wyoming is beautiful, but the climate is changing everywhere, and changing faster than most people thought possible.
The temperatures that were here 5 years ago, can now be found up the road, 2000 feet higher. Greenland might be the "in" place soon.

100 degrees a couple times/year is doable.
i'm fleeing 2 strait months over 100. that never happened before.

this is way worse than blizzards.

Sorry folks, the Governor just declared the state plumb full.
OK, there might be a few places left, but if you want mountains and scenery, you need to look at the northern 1/3 of the state.

Like the others have said.. Gun friendly, I've never seen 100 degrees here, but I've seen 75 below wind chill factor.

We don't got much air pollution neither.:D;)

Well Zippy..the cows WERE passing a little gas yesterday.. I heard 'em. The breese were blowing the other way. LOL Got up this mornin to 39 degrees here...3 or so days ago it was all the way up to 90 though...then we had that rare Wyoming weather phenomenon they call rain back east... Sunday I was in Cody at the (gag) Wally World pickin up a prescription while my wife was in church. Talked to a lady and her husband from Misery..um Missouri. They asked me all kinds of questions about Wy..Asked all the normal questions about the good points and then asked the bad things..tole 'em the worst isTourista season..It's too long and the limit ain't high 'nuff..then we laughed about it!...Well they did. Luckily I do not live in Cody. It is a kinda neat town in the winter...hehehehe

Instead of keeping her tail to the wind one mare turned side wise and got caught by a little gust of wind, she lost her footing, started tumbling and would have rolled all the way to the river but she got caught up in the fence.

Ed I thought for a bit you must be down around that place they call Hell's Half Acre(actual name of the place)...but then I started to thinking...and there ain't any river down that away...nor many fences either.

There's two sayingss about the wind down here on the flats.

The wind don't blow here, it's just passin' through.

The wind don't blow in Wyoming, Nebraska sucks!!

No offense to you fellers in the flat lands east of us..
Heck, I'm always directin' tourists east to help your state coffers.
During the wintertime I'm always tellin' them "Ski Nebraska!"

I'm like you, I can put on enuff clothes to stay warm but the law don't allow me to git enuff off to get cool.

Cold spells and blizzards don't last long here. In the southern part of the state, there will be a couple of weeks of "decent" weather where the snow is melted off and it's plumb pleasant livin'.
Now the mountains is a little different. It snows up there and the snow stays around most of the winter, but the wind don't blow like it does on the flat lands.

Now some folks will tell you there is 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad roads. I modify that a little to 9 months of winter and 3 months of traffic cones.

I live in Cody, (yes the local wally world is yuk).
If you want more information about the northwest corner of the state send an email.
We can tell when fall is here because the deer in town are eating everything............

I live near Riverton, have a place where I can shoot daily at just about any range. I have given the bureaucrats enough hell that they mostly leave me alone, hopefully the down turn in our economy will trim some of the poorer ones out. The oil bust is resulting in lots of houses for sale and prices are going down. There are some good folks in Riverton and it is good times.

That's Just Wyoming folks doin' what they do.

I helped a couple CT yankees find a place out here and we're workin' on a pair from KY.

CT folks now have license plate frames on their cars that say, "I'm not from Wyoming, but I got here as quick as I could"

Well it will be cooler, that's for sure. Snowed in Yellowstone country last week.

ed, looks like a 12 hour drive. maybe i'll stop by n say hello.
it never occurred to men that this forum could supply me some friends in a new place.
that's super.

You will be welcome, Colts and Glocks are discriminated against, S&W and West German Sigs are naturally welcome. :)

Snowed over here up a bit higher than me..We has snain the other night for a while..but it was only 39 round the house..150-200 ft higher it had to be snowing. Isn't going tobe long and winter will be gettin here. Started up the chain saws today..almost time to cut some more wood for the winter. I even started up the OLD Stihl 041. Haven't run it in 3 years. When it idles it sounds like a motorcycle. I'll go out to cut in the pile of logs I have here early in the morning..when it is colder...that way the rattlers in the stack will be moving a bit slower. I saw one out there the other day(when it got to 90) laying on the top of the pile.

A friend of mine was up hunting mountain goats in the Beartooth country late last week. They had rain, snow, heavy fog and a real, live blizzard for a couple of hours. Said he's decided he might be getting a little old for that backpack mountain hunting. Heck, he's only 64! Little chilly weather ain't no big thing! No snow here in town yet but it'll be along soon enough.
