wyoming help, please?

I have visited Wyoming many times mostly antelope hunting. I always enjoy it. Nice folks where we go Niobrara County.. I intend to go back next year. I don't intend to move again but if I was going to and could not get to Alaska it would be Wyoming.

Keep posting guys, keep posting! It was 98 degrees here yesterday and I just looked at the calendar - it is 24 days 23 hours and 5 minutes before I leave this heat behind and head to a spot at 7200 MSL up in the mountains of Wyoming for 5-6 weeks. My buddy told me yesterday I would be complaining about the cold when we talk next month. I told no, I would be bragging when I tell him just how cold it is, not complaining. Now I remember how it felt waiting on Christmas when I was a young lad. I am about 2/3's packed and work on compiling stuff a little each day. Tell me more about the nice cool weather of Wyoming "like no place on earth".

We'll be shippin' cattle out of the Carlin Ranch near Rock River WY. the first week in Oct. It's got to snow a little before we're done or it won't feel right.

Which reminds me... gotta get another freezer cause we have a beef critter we have to "process up" soon. He's getting stuffed with corn now. Oh heard a wolf howling last night..But he was off a ways.

We've got a little piece of dirt just down the road in Sybille Canyon. When we lived in Laramie we'd pack up all the Thanksgiving fixin's, head to the canyon, toss everything in the fire, and be set for the day. No traffic to speak of (everyone was already where they were going), and the deer and mountain sheep didn't seem to mind sharing their space with us. A flake of a shovel full of snow always seemed to make it better.

Wyoming

I was born in Wyoming, raised in Colorado and came home 30 years ago. Other than Alaska we have less people statewide than most big cities. A majority of our folks will help you out when you are in need, those that won't are from different places. Wyoming is not liberal or progressive, we love our freedom and mind our own business. Welcome to Wyoming and stop by anytime, the doors open.

I was in Casper one day and the wind quit blowing. Everybody fell down.

Bitter Creek is in Sweetwater County.

Gerry Spence defended "quick draw" Ed Cantrell. A very interesting
story, with Bill Jordan as a witness. Ed was Director of Public Safety
in Rock Springs. He shot a local patrolman between his eyes with a
.38 and claimed self defense. Supposedly the patrolman had a gun
pointed at Ed, but Ed drew so fast that he was able to shoot first.
It wasn't believed that someone could outdraw someone who had their
gun pointed at you. That's where the importance of the witness came
in. Complete details in a Washington Post article titled Wyoming Jury
Acquits City Sheriff On First-Degree Murder

That's about all I know about Wyoming except I spent some time at
F. E. Warren AFB (Cheyenne) in 1952.

Oh, and I hauled a truck load of concrete fence posts to Jackson, Wyoming
one time, for the Forest Service.

Wyoming is a beautiful state. You will love it.

I have not spent a lot of time in Wyoming, but what time I spent I loved. We hunted Pronghorn near Medicine Bow many years ago. You are all lucky to have the open spaces and good people you have. Every person we met was welcoming and glad we were there, from the wildlife officer who checked in out goats to the bartenders, butchers etc. Had a great time.

I spend quite a bit of time there, visiting and visiting with my brother, who lves in Powell. Saw a great bumper sticker the last time I was there: "Welcome to Wyoming. Consider Everyone Armed."

BIL is in Torrington. There is a great growing season but his friends up North say the best thing about it is you can see Wyoming from there. It has a very mild winter.

Hmmm. Four-year-old thread, and still going.

Wyoming is a terrible place!

Wind blows all the time.

Had a foot of snow last Tuesday, and the temp was 12° below freezing.

Critters, including domestic cows, will run right in front of you when you're doing 70mph.

We're prone to forest fires.

I wouldn't recommend it. Tell your friends.

Hmmmm.

It says "Welcome," but it doesn't say you're welcome to stay. :D

We've been getting overrun, this year especially, by folks trying
to escape their BIG cities on the west coast and the northeast.
Funny, "they" used to call Wyoming a "fly-over" state.

We won't stay "Forever West" if they bring their BIG ideas, you
know, the ones they're trying to get away from.

Best bumper sticker ever -- seen on a mid-'80s Buick in Jackson
Hole (Wyoming County 22 plates, Teton County, Jackson Hole),
driven by a mid-50s lady wearing a hotel maids uniform:

"My Wyoming has an East infection."

Baseball caps wore correctly are becoming acceptable.
Wore backwards? Git yure butt back to Colorado!😡😁

Best bumper sticker I saw was in Cody:

" We don't give a damn how you did it
where you came from."

I do see lots of Californian's moving in.
But like it's said, I hope they don't
bring the things that made them leave
with them, AKA what happened to
Jackson Hole.
