Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else tried the X-frame hogue grips on their N-frame 4" 325PD.

I just got them in from S&W and noticed that there is a gap between the grip and trigger guard. Not that it's a big deal, but I'm just curious as to if I'm screwing up the installation somehow or if this is normal.

Oh, and if anyone is pondering doing the same thing, I will say this... they are big and thick. I also have the Pachmeyr decelerator grips and they are much thinner and cover the backstrap. I basically got these grips to make shooting it more enjoyable for my girlfriend who goes with me to the range, but for carry purposes, you might be better off with the pachmeyrs.

Thanks.

I bought a 629 Mountain Gun that had a set of green X frame Hogues on it. They fit fine, and do a good job of absorbing recoil.

X frame uses same grip as K and L frame. N and J frames are unique.

So, there's no gap between the grip and the trigger guard at all?

The 329 is also N-frame... maybe I have the grips seated wrong.

If not, it's not really a big deal since it seems to fit well otherwise.

Well, I definitely had is seated a little wrong... with a little more monkeying around, I got it on there pretty good. Can't wait to try em out this weekend.

X frame grips are same as K frame. So may not fit a N frame real well.

Crap... I could swear that S&W said the X frame had a K frame grip frame... But, I guess I was wrong on that. I take it back.

If it's any help, I'm using X frame grip on both 686-5 (L-frame) and 627-5 (N-frame) and it fits fine. Both revolvers are round butt.

I bought my new 6" 629 three years ago in early August. I had a .500 Magnum Hogue grip, which I had tried on my 629MG (N-frame) earlier. A friend even tried it on his 696 (L-frame) - and ordered one for it. That grip has been on my 629 - as another one has been on the MG's replacement since it arrived 2.5yr back. Great fit - great recoil absorption.

Here it is on the 6"-er - it adds maybe 3/16" to the trigger reach - no problem for my medium+ hands.

PS To the OP - wiggle them around - they close up nicely, sometimes with some convincing and tightening the screw, when on L or N frames (I couldn't bring myself to trying them on my 10 or 66 K-frames!).

They work fine on my 329PD but on my 296, .44 special the recoil still hurts.

Okay, you inspired me... I had to try!

Now, to find some britches they can ride, in it's Mika's pocket holster, in!

Looks good---same as mine---it is still going to hurt. Hard to believe???

You can still go with the pocket carry but don't be surprised if all the ladies wink at you.

I think that the 500 frame uses the smaller K-L grip grame. I have installed the 500 grips on several N-frames. There is a gap behind the back strap and behind the trigger guard. No big deal though. My 325-10 snub was cutting my hand with Pachmayr Decell. Grippers as they were too narrow. Switched to the 500 grip on this little monster and no more problems.
