Yeti coolers?

Have any of you men, or ladies, blown good S&W money on a Yeti cooler? If so, how do you like it?

received a large one as a gift, worked great, but was too heavy for us old folks, when filled- Bought a smaller one for a 11,030 mile trip out West and it was great. Traded the large one to #1 son, who gifted us with it, for one for a bit smaller one. Use BOTH on camping trips. Smaller one just for drinks and water was ice cold, even when the ice melted. They are as BEAR proof as you can buy, which is important to us for where we go. 5 stars from a user of 4 years.

Thank you for the reply. I noticed how heavy the larger Yeti coolers were, and they were empty. Next, I noticed how much the dang things cost. It is good to know the things do work.

I have one of the large Yeti coolers, it works best if you: "pre-ice" the cooler the night before, drain off the water and add food and drinks, top off with ice.

We bought my dad a larger one a few years, and it has been impressive. We loaded it with fresh fish & ice leaving the coast and riding in the bed of my truck in summer heat 24 hours later the ice had just started to get that 'wet' look. My parents found it also does a good job at keeping things warm.

The downside as noted is the weight when loaded.

They work well,but are overpriced regardless. Also,around here you have to put a cable lock on it and bolt it to the bed of your truck,if you want it to be there when you get back from wherever it is that you have gone (status symbol for the kiddies,you know?).

Never heard of them 'cause I am still using my good ol' Coleman from 25 years ago. Is there something special about these things that I need to know about?

I also have 4 old Stanley Thermos bottles (made in USA) in 4 different sizes that still perform perfectly.

Off-hand, it costs our daughter $35.00 to have her Maltese groomed. A Yeti is much larger and considerably more dangerous, the groomer would charge out the rear end to trim a Yeti.

Have one that was a gift. Works pretty well. Need to see if it outlasts 10-12 regular igloo coolers. Also have a Yukon, large size. Carry ice on fishing trips to N. Ark. in late August and it will keep ice, even opening and closing several times a day, for three days.
Also, have some friends testing yeti's to see if they are cost effective. I will try to remember to report back.
One of the good things is they are so heavily built, you can throw stuff in the back of your truck without to much worry of damage to the cooler.

Pelican makes one a little cheaper and fairly comparable.

Pelicans are just as overpriced as the Yeti.

I have been using the 45 qt. model; a small one. While it works well, the empty weight seems substantial for a cooler of its size. When loaded, it's heavy but certainly no problem unless it requires frequent moving.

I have the 75 quart version and it performs as advertised. It keeps stuff cold for much longer than lesser coolers. The store where I purchased it offers free ice for life.

Big time theft item here and along the coast of Texas.
Buddy at the lease has one but he opens it about ever 10 minutes for a beer and the knida defeats the purpose of the Yeti.
Great for keeping food stored cold-- terrible as a beer or drink cooler.

Why would you want to put a yeti in a cooler?

I was kind of thinking the same thing. That and living up in the snow in the Himilayas, isn't a yeti already cool enough?

I decided to get one last year. I loaded that mutha on my basket and made it as far as the check out line. There was no way I could justify spending that much money on a cooler, so I put it back. My pockets aren't that deep.

Pretty good incentive. Hope the owner is young and in good health.

I have a couple of colemans. No one has tried to steal them, and they keep stuff cool enough for me. For the price of a Yeti, I can buy more than a dozen colemans and stock them with ice and drinks.

I tried lifting my neighbors large Yeti (before it was stolen) and almost got a hernia, plus by back hurt for days. In my neighborhood people dock their boats in the canal by their houses, and leave their Yeti in the boat with cable attaching it to the boat. Thieves in kayaks come though in the wee hours of the morning cut the cables and steal the Yetis. Friends that have had them swear by them for being cool coolers.

I have the 105 and I like it. I bought it because I have an off grid cabin in Va. It is 4 hours away from where I live. I can fill the cooler with enough drinks and food and ice to last at the cabin 4 days. If I go up for a weekend I leave the ice in the cooler and it is still there a week later. The thing will definitely keep ice. The only issue I have is that it is bright white in color and certain stains will absolutely not come off. It also gets strange little dark colored dots or specks inside on the bottom and they wont budge either. The staining does not affect how it works at all...just looks nasty. If I had it to do over I would get the tan colored one.
