Deer hunting last week, I noticed a coyote come trotting through the woods. We've been thinking we might have a predator problem, the fawn recruitment has been down. It looked like he had a rabbit in his mouth, but when I picked up the binocs I noticed it was not that at all! Not sure where he got it, but it was too much for me to let pass!

As Chud333 said, never pass up a safe shot on a coyote. We've got a fifty dollar bounty on 'em here in Utah because they've been cutting a big swath in the mule deer herd. Not enough to make a decent living...but enough to keep me in shells. Good job!

2 winters ago I had a ton of deer in my neighborhood. Too dense a residential neighborhood to shoot, but I enjoyed their visits. That same winter a pack of coyotes moved in, could hear them howl every night. They cleaned out all the deer - haven't seen a deer since.

That is very cool there Mule Packer,
50 bucks is good ammo money.
I remember my dad telling me when he was a young-un
the FFA (i believe) paid out a Bounty for Crow heads or feet,
can't remember which. It was only like a dime/quarter or so but my dad and his buddies bought their .22 shells with Bounty money by sitting over freshly planted corn fields.

Yotes killed two of my 8 cats. They can't touch my three tamed feral cats. They have yotedar no way.
I do not cut there claws on my outside cats. I hate yotes. Ill kill the whole pack if I get a chance.

Same problem here. I need a suppressed .22 badly. Perhaps I'll look into trapping.

When I purchased my camp in Rochester,vt my land looked like I91 with deer tracks. Each year less and now none. My land slopes into the bottoms I found the deer hiding there.

My dentist and his hunting partner hunt coyotes year-round. I asked if they get any money for the pelts.....$20.00. I reckon they ain't scarce so he needs to keep killing them to raise the price.

I lost a cat years ago to 'yotes.

I grew up here (south central) Indiana and as a teen,
circa: mid 70's
i could usually shoot 3-4 Groundhogs on a good day.
Now it's rare to spot a Groundhog anywhere.
On the rare occasion i do they get a free pass.
Coyotes got them killed down to nothing. Our Deer
numbers have been falling as well with no reports
of diseases here. They're the ONLY predator here !!
