You will ask who are the Vets on the forum.
You will ask who has pistol or revolver.
You will even ask where are all the Ladies at.
But if I ask if any of my race are here, you Warn me as if I said something offensive. I am as proud of my race as I am of my gender and my uniform. There is Nothing offensive about black gun ownership. I would think this would be the place to encourage it. Maybe I am wrong. Some topics take a degree of maturity to handle. Maybe we just better stick to finding the Ladies. Considering this forum is mostly male, that question would not be considered sexist, right.

I'll tell you what's funny to me, we are falling all over ourselves as a country to be diverse but in that effort we have to make sure we are all alike, a sort of don't ask don't tell. Where's the diversity in that.

i think they just want to avoid the subject entirely.
why walk through a mine field if you dont need to?
besides, we are all made of stars, right?

Nothing wrong with that at all. In fact one of the most well spoken pro gun, NRA guy is black. If you remember he did that video about Daniel Defense when their commercial was rejected for the super bowl. He's got other good, informative video along with some funny ones...like 9 vs 45.

P.T.

I didn't see your original post(?), so I haven't any idea what the response was. If you are black, or whatever, I think it is just as legitimate a question as any of the others you have cited. Race isn't supposed to make any difference. We as a nation have become so overly-sensitized to the race issue that anytime there is any mention at all we over-react. It's a pity!

I'm just an OWG, but I hope you had some positive responses to the original post.

Unbelievable!! 4 responses in the time it took me to type this one. Glad they were all positive.

Well true race dont matter. But legal gun ownership or entering into a healthy conversation about license ownership is a very hard topic to have in my neck of the woods. The more I get into the sport (shall we say) the more alone I feel. Unless you were military, it is just difficult.

I just have one question. What difference does it make if a gun owner is black,white,red,yellow,purple,polka-dotted, plaid, pink or any other color variation. Personally I don't care what color, ethnic branch or nationality you belong too. All I care about is your character. That's the extant of the judging I do.

As far as to the subject of women all I can say is when grandmothers like myself, mothers and daughters are seen actively involved in the shooting sports it really gets harder for the politicians to restrict our Rights.

I have wondered how many black members we have here but it really doesn't matter to me. Even as a member I consider myself as a guest since the forum is owned and run by others and they have rules about race, religion, politics, etc. so I try to stay away from those subjects.
They run a pretty tight ship here and I like it that way.

We stand together as gun owners. Race doesn't matter.

Post of the day!

I hang out on a couple other (none gun forums) and things like this come up. Its starts out just fine but invariably it take a downward spiral and in some cases goes downright nasty.

Based on what I have seen for the last 12 years certain topics are best left unsaid.

I think you raise some valid points here, points that may be something that us white guys can't directly relate to from personal experience. I don't see a downside to having a conversation on this topic, or raising the issue. We are all civil, mature adults with common interests, so I cannot imagine how an exchange of words and perspectives and such could do anything but expand all of our respective views on life and the world.

I understand a tight ship, rules and the"another person's house" bit. But there are some real and valid issues and questions that I would like to ask. Just like there are somethings that Vets would understand that civilians may not is certain things. There are real issues in our neighborhoods that the perspective of legal gun owners that are black can address. But again some topics take a level of maturity to address. We are way too race sensitive.

Correct.

We don't do discussion of racial topics here. There are several other topics that are banned. They are stated quite plainly in The Rules.

The reason is they are simply not within the focus of this board, and become more trouble than they are worth for the staff and members.

The purpose of this board is limited.
It is-
1 > To cover all aspects of shooting/owning/collecting S&W products.
2 > Protection/expansion of gun rights and the 2A.
3 > Promotion of the NRA.

Everything else is extraneous.
Extraneous topics that cause problems are banned.

You agreed to our Rules and Terms of Service when you joined.
They are not negotiable.
This thread verges on balking at Moderation, but we'll cut you some slack while I use it to make the point for the membership at large.

I would suggest reading:
Sticky: RULES
Sticky: Terms of Service

If our board is usable for you within those parameters, enjoy it.
If not, we bid you Godspeed in your quest for happier haunts.
