You know you're getting old when

If you fall and everybody laughs. You're young.
If you fall and everybody say's OMG, you okay? You're old.

About 4 years ago I was reading the deposit receipt as I walked out the door of the credit union.I wasn't looking out for the curb and when I stepped off it I went down like bag of rocks.

Immediately there was a small crowd of people around me all big-eyed and " are you hurt?" "are you okay?" "Do you need an ambulance?" ...And no doubt thinking, "Do you want a lawyer?"

It took me a moment to get my bearings and realize what had happened and what everyone was talking about and one guy started shaking me to see if I was conscious.

I wasn't hurt but my face was burning with humiliation as I reassured them all that I was okay and walked to my truck. :o

That kind of thing is a wake-up call that is hard to over look.

When I realized I had to plan getting out of my chair and the route I would take to get to the kitchen with the most balancing points to steady myself frequently on the 15’ journey to the stove I knew I’d entered my old age.

...when you see a lot more of doctors than you care too!

I'm also learning it is a challenge to find a good one. I'm about to dump my cardiologist. They have profiled me into the 'middle aged couch potato" category, ignore what I tell them and treat me as if I'm lying to them, and give me advice that if followed would result in a death spiral of decline. They have no idea how hard I work out nor how strong I am.

I bought two lottery tickets last week for $2 each. Started to walk out the door and the lady rushed up behind me and said "Sir! You forgot your change!" I had given her a $20 bill. Completely forget I'd spent my ones when I checked out with my groceries...
