You may go to hell and I will go to Texas

Yep, Mary's café in Strawn is the cats meow when it comes to chicken fried steak. I have traded several firearms to folks in the DFW area and we always meet in strawn for a steak. We also have friends in Atlanta that when they come out here the first place they want to go eat is Mary's. They make a mean hamburger too.

The idea of mesquites being brought here from S TX by cattle is a wive's tale but one that has a grain of truth. Mesquites have been on the Llano for thousands of years. There are fossil records to prove it. They were originally, though, only in the draws and creekbeds. The cattle spread the seeds up onto the plains from out of the draws rather than from another area.

Thanks for the clarification. I was intrigued by the other post, but left wondering how long a seed could be carried in a cows digestive tract.

Good stuff guys.

I wonder what Ol Davy was thinkin about concerning that
famous statement and decision on March 5th 1836 ?

Probably not much as he'd been too busy trying to catch up on sleep-in between cannon bombardments, freezing weather and Mexican skirmishes.

I dont know if its still on this site but, I enhanced a great article about the Alamo and posted it here a couple years ago. You'll will enjoy the read.
