I hate having to carry anywhere - - - but I cannot risk not being able to protect the loved ones in my life so if you see me not carrying I am in the shower, or pool - - - I chose to not go where prohibited - - - I was forced to shoot an escaping prisoner at Camp Lejune in 1969 - - - he died in spite of our best efforts and I hope that is the last time I have to shoot anyone but that does not mean I am unwilling.



Yes I carry at church and hope that I never have the need to use it but in this world you never know!

I carry every hour I'm awake as long as I'm wearing enough clothing to attach a gun. That includes church.

Subject seems to have got a little sideways here. Funny how we can mention guns n God comes up a lot. As for me and my opinion... Have gun .. Will carry. Follow the law yes much as possible. But yes will carry in the "posted" no carry places. I figure if a coward crazy person wants to kill a bunch of people he probably not gonna come where he knows people are carrying. After all not hear many mass shootings in police departments now do we. So ya I have my different carry guns. Kinda situational dependent. But all said I have mine it will be with me. I used to. Well.... I was canoeing, not tubing. And my pistol was in a .30 caliber ammo can with the can's handle tied to the canoe with 550 cord so it wouldn't drift away when we capsized. In 7 or 8 years of canoeing that river I never had to open the can, but it was good to know it was there.

I am a former LEO and Private Specialized Arms Security Contractor of over 30 years as well as Firearms Instructor of 6 different types of classes since 1985 and Texas CHL Instructor since the inaugural instructors class in 1995 and now find myself permanently disabled by orders of doctors and a Federal judge due to a head injury plus then getting Multiple Sclerosis. The thing is, people fail to understand current and proper State and Federal laws and JUST BECAUSE A BUILDING HAS A NO GUNS/FIREARMS SIGN DOES NOT MAKE THIS LEGAL!!!! Know your laws as to what sign verbage, sizes, formats are LEGAL and OBEY THOSE. The others, you can LEGALLY IGNORE especially if you are properly concealed and NO ONE KNOWS YOU ARE CARRYING ANYHOW. Should the need arise for self defense or defense of another in a place with an improper/illegal sign State laws say you ARE PROTECTED BY LAW FROM PROSECUTION FOR VIOLATION. For instance, in Texas, only the LEGALLY FORMATTED 30.06 and 51% signs are binding to CHL hoolders. And a 30.06 sign posted at an IMPROPER LOCATION can have the building owner PROSECUTED, not you! Knowing the laws is vital in carrying daily my friends. It turns out there are becoming fewer and fewer places that can LEGALLY RESTRICT lawful firearms owners from bearing arms daily yet people are unaware of this fact.

A neighbor church, about a mile from ours, was attacked by a deranged shooter several years ago. We buried one of my daughter's friends as aa result. This forever changed my outlook on carrying at church.

Our pastor and congregation fully approves being prepared. I do not always carry to church, but be assured there are many who do so. Sometimes the shepherd must defend his flock.

Besides, just a few blocks across the interstate, there is a conclave of Muslims, thanks to our government, and there is no way of knowing how many are jihadists, even though we teach them English through our missions program.

Trust, but verify. Or as TR said, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."

I cheated on my wife last night.

Actually, we sleep in separate beds....she says I "snore and move too much". My pistol doesn't seem to mind.

Also, I have a pistol on my person or within arms reach 24/7/365, especially while I'm in the shower. Just think about how completely screwed you would be if someone broke into your house while you were showering and your firearm is in the bedroom or wherever else you keep it/them. I'm sorry, but if my kids scream or my wife yells for help, I have a pistol in my hand in 2 seconds. Anything less is irresponsible IMO.

Additionally, my 12-year old son (been shooting since he was 7) has access to "his" .22 pistol in my bedroom drawer if needed while I'm not home since my wife is not willing to protect them while I'm working or otherwise not around.

I was a police officer for 25 years, now I work armed security. My boy knows there are "bad guys" in the world. He knows there is no guaranteed "safe" place or time. He watches the news with me and sees the cr@p that goes on everywhere. I'm just glad he's more like me than his mother, who believes that nothing bad will ever happen to her in her life.
