Your 4" N frames

Your 4" N frames (or 4.5" in this case)

Since I doubt if anyone ever does a thread entitled "Your 4.5" N frames", and since these are close to 4", I will add a few quick pictures of an identical matched pair of first year 4.5" consecutive Reg# RM's (Reg# 447/448) that I just picked up. 100% original as they left the factory in August 1935 with 4.5" barrels, McGivern Gold Bead front sights, U-notch rear sights, and matching service style stocks. I rate them approximately 93% - 95% original blue finish with drag lines, holster wear, high edge wear, and minor age spots - they were owned by a shooter, not a collector. I obtained these from the nephew of the original owner and they came with Registration Certificates, one box fully loaded with contents, and old S. D. Myres holsters. The action on these guns is incredible - I bought them to shoot and I fired them earlier this week at our cabin in West Virginia. I will do a separate thread on this pair once I get them fully documented and better pictures taken; for now just a few quick phone pictures taken here at home and at the cabin after I fired them. Click on the pictures for a closer look.

I'don't know Terry - postin' 4.5"ers in a 4" thread could lead big changes in the way the world spins... Now maybe you can fix them there guns by crankin' them down in a vice and with your trusty hack-saw, loppin' off that pesky extra 1/2"... now then, you'd really have somethin' purty darn near purfect...;):D

In all seriousness - those two 4.5"ers are beautifully configured and a delight to behold - I love the McGivern bead front sights and I would not change a thing to either of them.

Thanks for sharing those beauties. I can't wait to see your full report after the research is complete.

All the best,

2 28-2's and 629-6

Tyler T on a late 70's 28-2.
Early 70's, 5 digit N serial number, beveled forcing cone.
629-6 that wears a Hogue monogrip with single finger groove.
Great shooters all!

My humble contribution. 1979 28-2. I have 2 others a 6" from 1968 and another 4" from '69 also just not in front of me for pics at the moment

My only M28 is a 6" dash 2 from '78.

Maybe one of these days I should look for a 4" M28.

Another one....

Here is one that I have great affections for....a first year nickel model 58. The stocks are by Grashorn, but it has the original matching PC magnas back on it today. This is one crazy accurate 58 :D

For the record - I do not recommend shooting full house magnums with those stocks, I still have an imprint of them in my hands almost 10 years later
