Your First S&W

Still have the one I learned to shoot handguns with: Military and police .38 special

I came into permanent possession about 1970. My dad purchased it used around 1932. Pretty good shooter. SWMBO won't let me pass it along to my son, yet.

I can account for it being in the family 63 years ago. Rumor has it that it had something to do with Dad proposing to Mom.

:):)My first S&W was odel 14-3 single action, with the 3 T's.
I bought it new some 30yrs. ago, and it still looks new.

New 686, 8 3/8" barrel. It replaced a new 4" Security Six HB.

BAD move. The Ruger was far more versatile and, to my great surprise and disappointment, just as accurate.

My first S&W is the 4" 19-4. I bought it new in Austin in 1978. I have the box, grips, manual, & receipt. I bought the 2 1/2" 19-6 last January. It's my primary carry gun.

I really cant remember for sure, but it might had been a 1917. My first brand new one was either a model 60 or a 27-2. About the same time I bought a used pristine 1950 target .44 special. My 1st smiths came in the later 60s.

617-1 with a 6" barrel bought in about early 1995 and I sold it sometime in 2002. One of the most stupid things I ever did. Loved the gun, it was very accurate and I had a lot of inexpensive fun with it. Hope to get a new 10 shotter in the not too distant future.

My first S&W was one of three Model 19's I've owned. I bought a new 6" in 1972 for $116. Later in '77 I bought a like new 4" and in '78, the 2 1/2". Being a whole lot older and depending on who you talk to, a little bit wiser, I'd love to have all three of them back again.

Model 28 no dash with 6 inch barrel. Given to me as a gift by my late Father. Still have it and it shoots great.

First smith

Bought a new nickeled Model 57 with 8 3/8" barrel in March, 1981, for silhouette shooting. Retired it, but still have it. Still learning how to do photos.

My first Smith & Wesson was a blue model 57 I purchased in 1973. It was followed by a 27-2 and a 29-2. I still have the 57 but the other one's are long gone.

About the same time I was ready to finally buy a handgun, S&W came out with the L frames. I had always admired the appearance of the Pythons and I bought a 686 at least in part because of the similarities in profile. I sitll have it and its still a favorite shooter and gets out if not weekly, at least once a month. Not long after buying that first one I saw one in a gun shop with a funny-looking finish, and bought a 4" CS-1. I Still have that one also.

A boring ol' Model 10-6 4-inch which was made in 1971 and purhased used for $75 as a Christmas present to myself in 1975.

It is still the primary carry piece.

My first gun bought by myself for my carry permit in 2002 is my 60 LS.

first S&W

Mine was a 442-1, bought it to use as a back-up gun a decade ago. Still CCW carry it daily in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster and still love it.

Mine was a Magna Ported Model 629 with a 4" barrel.
