Your least favorite S&W revolver

Sold the three in my avatar because the stubby magnums were no fun to shoot. Wish I had the 657 PC back though. Value is going crazy with those.

i Frames. I have a beautiful nickel 32 Reg Police from my grandfather. I wouldn’t part with it except to pass it on to the next family member but, dang, those are some tiny framed guns.

Any revolver that is chambered for .410. Looking at you, Guv’nor.

Of the S&W revolvers I've owned, the 340PD was the worst. Made me bleed around the thumb joint/web area in just a couple of shots.
But my all time least favorite revolvers were Colt Diamondbacks. Crappy, uneven pulls and unreliable ignition in DA. Not any more accurate than any other 4" .38, less than several of my model 10s! DA or SA. And the Accro sights were poor compared to Smith's adjustable sight picture. (Elliason sights are a different story.)

My 638.

Practicing with target wad cutters enlarged the bolt hole to where it was unsafe to shoot. I finally got S&W to fix it, but they replaced the frame with one that wasn't much better.

For me it was a 12-2, not my first revolver but never shot well for me or anyone who tried it. Several trips to the range convinced me to trade it away for a Winchester Super X Model 1 trap gun. A solid win.

The current non-favorite is my recently purchased 686 Mountain Gun. Having never used a revolver with a gold bead front sight I had no idea what nightmare that turned out to be. It is surprisingly difficult to shoot well, and it has other little annoying defects - the poor yoke-frame fit being chief among them. Overall, there are just no good vibes coming from that revolver, but when/if I get the sight changed out I hope things may start to improve.

This borders on sacrilege, but back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth I locked onto a minty 3 1/2" M27 complete with presentation box. That gorgeous chunk of metal wouldn't print inside 4" at seven yards no matter the load. I traded it for a stainless Old Model Vaquero the year they came out. I still have that gun and it still shoots like a house on fire.

Well I only own 2 revolvers from the post safety era. One is a 442 which is a delight to carry but hard for me to shoot well. I don’t hate it though. The other is a 6 1/2” 629 Classic. I thought I would love it but it is a disappointment. I hate that it has a round butt. I hate the rubber stocks it came with and I can’t seem to find any stock that aren’t expensive to fit it like I want. If it had a square butt I would just throw some Targets on it and call it a day. The stainless finish is lackluster and looks like they didn’t finish polishing it. It just doesn't appeal to me as I thought it might. It’s too heavy and the RB just makes it seem more front heavy. I don’t hate it but I’m just meh about the whole thing.

Had a model 27 pinned and recessed. Forget what dash it was. It was beautiful but for some reason it was not accurate at all with 38 semi wadcutters or anything else. Wasn't shaving lead either. Got rid of it in a hurry. Went back to my K38 tack driver.
