Your least favorite S&W revolver

I've had two J-frame Airweights that both went bye-bye -- a 37 and a 638. I still have half a dozen grips in a drawer that I tried on them but could never find a comfortable combo to actually shoot them. Wouldn't be opposed to a K frame snub, though.
There are Model 10s out there in 2”. Just sayin.

I have been very lucky with S&W revolvers. I have owned over 100 model 10s in various barrel lengths, along with a bunch of model 64s and 65s and have never had a bad one. I still own a bunch of them and wish I had more time to shoot them. I carried a 686 as my duty weapon when working as a deputy. It was and still is a fantastic revolver.

Any J-frame. I've owned a dozen or so. Just never really warmed up to them.
I had at least six J frames and I never liked them.

In search of the perfect BUG (second gun) as a cop I found the Colt Detective Special was perfect. Six shooter with a comfortable grip and perfect for the left front pocket.

Now I carry the Kimber K6xs which is very similar to the Colt Detective Special.

ANYTHING in 41 magnum, not because there is anything intrinsically wrong with the caliber or the guns chambered for it, but because of the folks that own and worship them.

A model 60 that I had back in the 70's that I carried for a backup on duty and off duty. I couldn't shoot a group with it at all. It was all over the target. Traded it for a 2" model 10 that was a great shooter. I have never owned another j frame.

My model 342. Scandium frame and barrel shroud, titanium cylinder. So lightweight it plain hurts to shoot.
Have the same gun, try Hornady critical defense ammo and an Ergo grip. The Ergo grip feels much better to me than the small boot grips that are on these Jframes.IMG_0272.jpeg

In general, I don't care for L frames, I don't like the full underlug. Of the S&W's I own, I guess it is my M48-4. It has an extremely shrill bark, and I have a few issues with failures to fire. I'll still hang on to it though.

My least favorite S&W wannabe S&W is a Italian ASM .45 Schofield. Love the beautiful top break design, love the .45colt caliber, feels good to shoot but hate the crazy weird trigger. Any pressure on the trigger locks up the hammer so you can’t cock it. I mean the lightest of touch. If you are very deliberate and slow you can get a cylinders worth to fire. There was a guy redoing the lockwork on these to correct the design flaw but I believe that he has passed. Btw, I didn’t like the open top so I sold it back to the guy I got it from. Why is that red? I've never seen anything like that!

Rick
It had a clear finish over the aluminum that wore away and looked terrible so I had it cerokoted Marine Corp red. Been edc’ing my Colt Mustang so the Jframe has been a safe queen since I had it done. Second time.
