your 'run for your life' guns

My Springfield M1a .308 and my Smith M&P .45acp....lots of mags for each!! And I'm to old & decrepit to run - So, "Stand and Fight - Die in Place"!!!

So what I'm hearing here is that a Block, I mean Glock, never fails ??????

So why even consider anything else. S&W, Springfield, Ruger, Taurus, Walther, Kimber, Sig, Beretta, Kahr, etc. might as well just close up, lock the doors. God builds Glocks.

I might not put 20,000 rounds through my revolvers a year but I can't recall any failures due to anything but ammo. I don't shoot anything revolverwise but S&Ws and Rugers, no crummy el cheapos. I might have 1K through my Modell 66 in two or three years, no failures.

Sorry guys, and I have all the respect in the world for vets & LEOs but I ain't buying it. By the way you should contact the Defense Department, the're carrying Berettas, some special units still carry 1911s, why aren't they carrying Glocks?

Sir, I said nothing about Glocks. If you've got a hangup about them, that's your deal, not mine.

Revolvers can and do fail, even well-regarded makes such as S&W, Ruger and Colt. I've had it happen with all three makes, most of them purchased new, and even a cursory look around this very site will turn up many other first-person reports of revolver failures. Don't think it can't happen to you simply because it hasn't yet.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

AR 15, 9mm HiPower, Rem 1100 tactical shotgun

Have an M1A but choose guns I know I could get ammo for when SHTF.

This all started when someone stated that his ugly Glock is more reliable than his and our beloved S&W revolvers. Granted you said nothing about Glocks and I know anything mechanical can fail.

So lets ask you. Do you believe a Glock is more reliable than a revolver from one of the before mentioned quality makers? And what's the problem with calling out someone putting down an S&W product with a Glock product on an S&W forum?

Debate.....who cares??

When do we get back to talking about aliens.....? Just like us to turn a light hearted thread into a serious debate about one persons preference of weapon over anothers.

This thread needs more alien talk and more pics.... and less opinions....;)

For the lawless mob situation -- war, riot, civil unrest, etc. -- I'd select military caliber weapons. Ammo will be more plentiful, and you may have to work alongside Guard or regular troops...

So, I'd grab my HK USP Tactical 45 for a sidearm, HK USC/UMP for crowd control, and AR-10 for long distance work.

My wife and I would be bugging out together, so she would grab the Marlin 1894 .357 Carbine and a 4" Model 10, while I grabbed a 4" Model 19 and a 2-barrel 12 gauge shotgun. I would probably cheat and stick a Model 60 in my pocket. Ammo cans would be packed predominately with .38 special 158 grain swc handloads, with a few full-.357 loads. One can with 12 gauge buckshot and heavy birdshot.

A double shotgun with double triggers is an overlooked item. There are two separate firing mechanisms. If one fails, the other can still be used as a single shot.

Well, my Colt ar-15 and Combat Masterpiece for me, and M1 carbine and my S&W 422 for my wife(only handgun she likes to shoot).

Not being a runner I will opt to carry only two, a Tikki M65 in 25-06 with a Kallaes 6x scope with 56mm bell (for low light) and my old vintage (1985) CZ 75 in 9mm with 3 15 round mags. It is better to reach out and touch the target at a safe distance.

Aliens? There's only one choice!

What else but my trusty lightsabre!

I'd take my 500 mag 4" for protection

And my 24-3 4" unfired in the box baby... cause I wouldn't want them jackin around with it after I left.

Colt M4 carbine with Eotech sight, and Glock 19. Both are already packed, with loaded mags, and ready to pootle down the parkway. I even practice with them occasionally.

I would be a gonner as I would take forever to decide. Although I think my rossi 92 lever rifle and my 66-3 3" both in .357 would be a smart choice. Than again how bout my browning 92 and 29-2 5" both in 44 mag? Or---- decisions, decisions.

I asked this question years ago on another forum and one guy said how many times was this going to be asked. I responded that this was the first i seen. Another guy then said well read the past post. Like i'm going to a forum and start reading all the past post. I love this type of question. If ammo is not option my glock model 20, 10mm. If ammo is a problem then a glock 23 with lone wolf barrel for 9mm and 357 sig. Then you need a long gun. I would say a FN FAL by DSA, the right arm of the free world due to .308 being all over the place. But a close and i mean close 2nd. remington 870 in 12ga. Buck shot or a slug can do a lot.

Gonna have to get a shotgun if only to answer these questions.

As it is, I'd grab my Springfield Armory 1911 and .40 cal. Browning Hi-Power.

Given our choices, our two families should join forces when the aliens come. Probably better to link up down in your neck of the woods because there are things scarier than aliens up here.
Deal. Our joint ammo will be widely available in most every structure around down here and we've got reliability and lethality knocked. Just hope they don't come during football season or they'll have us all bunched up and unarmed on Saturdays.
