Anyone ever shoot this out of a 2.5" model 29 snubbie? Is recoil significantly lower out of this short barreled gun?

Hadn't seen this yet. Looks interesting. Hopefully someone has some experience with this one to share. Looks like a nice load for the 3" 29.

That's what I'm thinking. It says it was developed for the scandium guns, but I can see the same benefit for snubbie n-frames.

I have shot some of that load.

It is good ammo, but not really "low recoil"...

It is low recoil compaired to the rest of Buffalo Bores stuff...

It is the same power level as the old Elmer Keith load.

In a 44 Mag I consider 7.5 to 8.5gr of Unique "low recoil".

I just shot some in my 629PC with a 2 5/8" barrel. I not ashamed to admit the recoil was brutal, and I stopped after two rounds. In all fairness, I was using the Eagle Secret Service boot grips that come on the gun. The gun torques sharply to the left and is hard on the wrist. With bigger rubber grips, this load might be bearable.

I use Buffalo Bore's .44 Special load with the same bullet, but at 1000fps. It's much more controllable, and amazingly accurate.

Why doesn't it suprise me that Buffalo Bore's "low recoil" round turns out to be about the same recoil as most other manufacturer's normal loads?

That 44 special sounds interesting.

Anyone use the Double Tap stuff? They have some truly big bullets as an option!

I shot 200 Buffalo Bore "low recoil" rounds through my 329. They seem about the same recoil level as standard 240 grain 44 mag loads. I had to use most of the elevation of my rear sight to get the gun zeroed with the load.

Shooting wasn't fun but it was fairly accurate in my gun.

I'm looking for a load with hard cast bullets. Seems like these two manufacturers are making what I'm looking for, so I guess I'll have to try out the "low recoil" option. Even if it's feels like standard, I guess it's still better than the other options!

looking for good round between 44 special and 44 magnium. I shoot a smith 629 with 4" barrel. I find the 44 special a little mild for hunting and the recoil of the 44 magnium is hard to manage. Like copper jacketed hollow points. any suggestions appreciated.

Take a look at handloading, or find someone who handloads and see if they will work up a load for your revolver. You can take .44 Mag. brass and load was is essentially a heavy .44 Special load... 240-250 gr. bullet at maybe 1,000-1,100 FPS. This will be very effective for hunting. It will have significantly less recoil than the same weight bullets typically loaded at the higher velocities of full-power .44 Mag. ammunition. HTH. Sincerely. brucev.
