Can get some Hornaday defense ammo in .223 for $20.00 a box od 20 rounds.. Is this worth getting for home defence? Only getting 2 boxes though if you guy's think it's any good.. Thanks! George

I like hornady defense rounds, their TAP and zombie is pretty good stuff too from what iv seen...unfortunately, i think thats not a bad price for a defense round...

I always test out at least a box of home defense rounds in my gun I am using them in. There should be no cycling issues but you never know until you try it. A gunfight is a bad time for your weapon to malfunction.

My UPS man asked if he was going to be seeing me on Doomsday Preppers next season. ROFL

Makes me realize that in a SHTF situation, an armed UPS guy with a way to get around could be a dangerous character. He knows where all the stockpiles are! Note to self, "bake cookies for the UPS man". LOL

UPS man stopped by our house again recently and before I knew it, the wife was handing him a bottle of wine. The guy nearly skipped back to the truck. I'm resigned to think it was because of the gesture, not who gave it to him.

Like to think though that it doesn't have him wondering/caring to much why the heavy boxes may or may not have had ORM-D labels.

Good idea...may have to give our guy a box or two. I have been finding a lot of .223 lately at about .50 per round. I have been buying every time I see it, about 3,000 rounds in just the last couple of weeks. I admit it, I AM addicted to buying ammo right now. I look several times a day

I look multiple times a day myself...

really only Needed 9mm and now have over 1000 on hand... but I keep looking anyways...LOL

Now if I see a good BULK buy on .223 I would for sure snag it.... but 5bxs at a time dosent help since i reload .223 and have PLENTY of components:D

what i really need is Loading Components for .357 ... But thats a needle in a haystack for sure...LOL

So yes, I am an addict as well... and keep getting new ENHANCEMENTS for my toys also...

If i had an extra grand sitting around, i prob wouldda bought some of the overpriced stuff if its all i could find...value is different than cost...when the cost of available ammo exceeds the value to me, its time to stop playin with my toys...

I've used the net and my smart phone to accommodate my needs. I check multiple times a day on various apps to sedate my desires.

I started out looking for 22LR and made my mind up from the get go that I wouldn't pay the stupid high prices for it.

Being vigilant and determined, I'm now comfortable w/ my supply of 13,000+ rounds of 22LR I have on hand.

It's personally comforting to know that I didn't pay more that 4-5 cents a round for the vast majority of it. I have added some CCI rounds that cost me between 7-8 cents a round. But I'm cool with that.

Even though I'm comfortable with my supply, it doesn't prevent me from buying more when I find it at a good price!

Can you ever have to much? :D

Now my 223 and 9 mm supply, I'm not nearly as comfortable as I would like to be. But again, I will not pay the stupid high prices.

So I keep plodding along picking up what ever quantities I can find when I find it at pre panic prices and keep on trucking! It worked for me w/ 22LR and it's slowly working for the other calibers I shoot.

So yeah, I guess I am addicted. But at the moment I still have control over it. I haven't allowed it to cloud my judgment or let it influence my buying decisions.

Are most of you guys buying target or self-defense ammo? btw I've been noticing shelves filling back up the past 2 weeks. Just yesterday was able to score 2 boxes of 555 Winchester. 22LR at Walmart. They had 2 shelves stocked with it. I haven't seen that since early December. Things are turning around.

Ammo? I buy it when I run into it. I'm not out actively hunting it down. I slowly stocked up over time, way before the 2nd election of BHO. Less than a year before the election, I learned to reload. I stocked up on reloading components. I'll reload what I need. I'll buy factory ammo at Wally-World when I see it. I'm set for handgun and rifle.

The only challenge I face is adding a caliber to my stable. If I were to add .357 SIG, I'd be in a tight spot.

I have had a steady stream of ammo going to the house. The "good ole boy" network and passed info to me and not at crazy prices. We are on this forum for several reasons, to me it is to learn about guns and shoot what I own.

I admit it, I am addicted to chasing ammo.

I just made a 120 mile round trip last night to finish up my 22lr and now here I set tonight, wanting to sheck the walmart app so bad, and to not have gun bot running minimized on my PC just doesn't seem right...

I want to take a brake from it all but I think I know whats going to happen when 9mm shows up in stock again....

Help.

I think we all see what our leaders are trying to do with the 2nd amendment and gun rights. So, everyone I know is stockpiling. If the Government can stockpile over 1.6 billion bullets. We should have our little nest egg too.........

I'll buy it if I see it and plan on shooting but I'm not running out and buying all that I can get "just because" like some of the people are. That's just dumb.

A lot of my friends and family are new shooters and this whole thing has rather soured them on shooting

And the newest sport to hit America is called "AMMO Hunt!"
*Anyone legally allowed to purchase ammunition can play.

Plan your strategy:
Casual play, or take an intense, systematic approach.

Figure out when to visit your local gun shop or sporting goods outlets.

Make friends with or bribe sales clerks to give you the "inside scoop."

Camp outside the local Walmart.

Live inside your Bass Pro Shop.

Climb your Gander Mountain and set up a tent on the roof.

Set up webcams to monitor the arrival of delivery trucks.

Search the Internet: Find the best sites on the Internet to buy from, or haunt the forums for clues.

SCORE: You score when you buy ammo. Gain more points by getting it at a "good price." Lose points when you pay way too much. (This can be rather subjective.)

Fun!: Along with the excitement of the hunt, and the reward of finding the ammo you need, gain bragging rights and post to the forums for all to see. Post pictures of your "trophies".

 :)

I WANNA PLAY!!!!!! ;)

Wish I would have started stocking up ammo when it was cheap..I moved over to the US 2 1/2 years ago so I did not know that there are shortages coming up on a regular base.
Right now prices are to high for me, I can't afford shooting. My guns are well oiled in my room but I don't think they will see a range soon

I'm Addicted Too

This is what I came home with a couple months ago after a foray into the Big Sky State of Montana.
One trip-two days- only four stops at gun stores.
In todays political climate, if you find it and have the money,
buy it!!Mt trip.jpg

Webcam. Thanks. I hadn't thought of that one.

The reason you and others cannot find ammo is you expect it to fall into your lap. You don't want to put the effort into it to acquire what you and the rest need then blame others for the failure to secure ammo for your needs.

With a little effort the ammo is there and at reasonable prices if the seeker is so inclined to put the required effort into the search. If not then no ammo will be found.

I participated in a thread where a gent swore no ammo was to be found anywhere near him. He had his City/State listed so I Googled it and came up with 5 LGS and ranges. The first one I called (yes, I even made the phone call) had 9mm in stock for use at their range. I posted it including the name and phone number of the LGS/Range and the gent came back with "Yeah, but it's like $25 and they make you shoot it there." I came back with "No, it's $20." He responded "well I was there not too long ago and guess what - no ammo." I told him I could not speak to the past but they had it that very day if he wanted to shoot. He then said he was a student who couldn't afford the range fees, etc.

In another thread titled something like "Where is the ammo?" from a fine fellow in Zanesville complaining that Dick's Sporting Goods and Walmart was out I pointed out that in Hebron (20 minutes from him) there was plenty of handgun ammunition in several calibers to be had at Buckeye Outdoors.

He said "I haven't been there but I heard they were out." When I pointed out that it was in stock on Easter Sunday but they were closed on Monday he responded "I don't have time to drive all over Ohio looking for ammunition." Don't know if he went on Tuesday or not. Don't much care.

I made thread about Vance's in Columbus having cases and cases of 9mm, .38, 40 and 45 ammo and the first response was "Well big deal. A dealer in a town has ammo - thanks for the non-onfo."

Whiners gonna whine.

I thought I had kicked my addiction when I turned down 250pks of 9mm yesterday. Nope. Bought 3 boxes of Remington 555 today. I need help.
