My full size .40 S&W semi-auto handgun is solid stainless steel and 43 ounces unloaded. A Glock 17 weighs 22 ounces.
I use my 43 ounce beast at the range, where I enjoy how it tames the recoil on .40 S&W. A carry permit is not an option in NJ.

Is anyone else buying/using full size full weight semi-auto handguns.

Most all of my firearms purchase, shooting and carrying choices are firearms made of metal. I am not a fan of plastic even though I do own several, none of which will ever be a Glock

This being a Hurricane week I have been carrying my 5" Sig P220 chambered in 10MM Auto.

I have never put it on a scale, but odds are it weights more than 43 ounces

A proper holster and especially belt go a long way toward what is or is not comfortable to carry.

My last four purchases have been: Beretta 91s; Sig 229; S&W 3904; and CZ 75B SA.

I like full size guns, but for the range. My carry guns are CS9, 4513TSW, 624 (full size for a J frame?); an Beretta PX4c.

I'm a big hammer fan, and will indulge a bit of plastic for carry purposes (I had the PX4 tuned by Langdon and they did a sweet job).

My last purchase was an officers 1911, .45acp that I am currently looking for a suitable holster for carry.
Also, I have a browning high power that gets shot often and occasionally carried....like TODAY! :)

Oh, lots of people. Guy in front of me at one shop the other day bought a 1911. I picked up a CHP 4006TSW late last year. I'm considering a 5906 at another dealer (price has not been established yet). But my main focus (for now) continues to be K-frame revolvers and compact 3rd Gen all-metal pistols. :)

Glock 17 with light is my dedicated nightstand firearm.

(If I were to carry it away from home, I'd take the light off unless I felt it necessary for some reason.)

I used to carry a 5" 1911, I carried a Hi Power for over a decade, before downsizing to a CZ 75 Compact - which is still a comparatively heavy all steel handgun.

I currently carry a 3" S&W 686+ which weighs over 40 oz loaded just because I like revolvers. I also carry an all steel officer model 1911 from time to time which also weighs around 40 ounces loaded.

I'm currently using my Beretta 92FS as a home defense gun. I do plan on getting some carry gear for it, but it's not a priority right now as my PX4 Compact and 642-1 serve as carry guns.

I'm hoping to close the deal on a Taurus PT 92 right after the Labor Day holiday.
It's going to be mostly a range gun.

Would a belt slide holster work for one of these?

Call me a dinosaur but I just do not care for all the new striker fired, plastic guns. They just don't do it for me. I carry a J frame. I like shooting my 1911's. I'll probably end up buying 9mm dies for my Dillon progressive, once I'm sure I get along with the PT 92.

I carry ether a lw commander in 45 or a m&p 4.25 40 and have a p320c40 I carried for 4.5 years .

I just bought a CZ 75 01 phantom 9mm, it will be carried. My normal edc is a Glock 20. My edc’s have all been full size going back to a 4” model 65 in the 70’s. Only exception to that is my J frames which I carry occasionally. But 90% of the time it is a full size pistol.

I sold my 5” Kimber Custom Classic a couple of years ago as it became too large for me to carry and did not see much range time.

I did keep my Kimber Ultra Carry (Series I) which finds itself placed into my EDC rotation, especially during cold weather months.

No my hefty steel 5906 is to keep and shoot , it's not a high dollar collectable but don't want to mess it up . EDC is Shield 9 , M&P 9FS also have 686 snub if needed. A coworker told his brother was shot during a fight and his SIG has been kept for evidence two years , I'm sure there is more to the story.

Haha, this is like asking me if I still care to eat food or perhaps drink coffee when I wake up. Simplest way to explain my approach to handgunning is that I was an enthusiast long before it even occurred to me that I might ever have the legal ability (or desire) to carry a handgun for defense.

I certainly am a dedicated daily carry kinda guy now, but far more than that, I'm still an enthusiast. In the past 9 months, my newest and favorite fun gun has been a CZ Tactical Sport in .40cal.

This particular pistol is the epitome of a large, full-size, all metal handgun for sure. And it is a modern tack driver and a whole lot of fun.
