I stumbled on this Serbian gun maker awhile back and started to research their rifle line and read some reviews. Turns out the discontinued Remington model 5 22lr and the 798 and 799 center fires are made by this company.
I got one in 17 HMR and was amazed to see high polished bluing, checkered walnut stock and overall nice workmanship for 299.00. It can be had in 22lr and 22 magnum as well.
If it shoots as good as it looks we have a low budget winner here.

Zastava is a state factory. They've been making guns for something like 300 years. They also make tractors and cars. They made Mausers, AKs, handguns...etc..etc. there's a Zastava EZ9 which is a Serbian version of Sig. A few center fire rifles sold here under Remington are in fact Zastava.

I have one of their pre-Remington contract .22's. It is a really accurate .22. I paid $150 for it. It was sold as Charles Daley brand. It has a hooded front sight. It has an oiled stock too. It had a nice feel to it. I would love to get another mag for it. I was reading on another forum and someone made the comment that they had sold several guns over the years but one gun they would not sell is this 22 because it was so accurate.:D

I have an Interarms Mark X Mauser in .308 that was manufactured by Zastava about 25 years ago. It is very accurate and an all round excellent rifle.

Like these a lot - These are both .22lr's.

I bought mine a few years ago when they were the Charles Daly Superior II. I got such a great deal on mine that I bought another one for my wife.
I couldn't stand the muddy brown stock finish so I refinished mine. Wifey won't let me touch hers.
