Military gets 40% off the purchase of one gun

Pretty much what she told me, said they are trying to fill orders in 60 days or less. That makes it getting here about the oldest grandsons 5th birthday, but it will be mine for awhile as he has a Thompson Center G2 Contender 22 LR coming for his first handgun.

Just got an email from David Holt the VP Military Programs and sent an order in for a M442 no lock ($360). 60-90days doesn't matter to me as I won't be home to pick it up until this summer. (tough deciding between that a M60 Pro, M64 3" or M57 Classic)

CD

I really want to get a Model 60 Pro Series with this deal. I wonder how it would be to carry concealed though, size and length wise.... ???

Have the rest of the day to decide.

Just ordered the M&P 340 for $588! My dealer said that he can't even get them lower than that. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but am very happy with the final price. What's the best way to follow-up with S&W? Will they e-mail us when shipped since they asked for our e-mail address?

Now the wait.....

The price for one of the original Model 500s was $825. An FFL guy I know said that the price was $100 under what he could get it for. Nice, mine is on order just under the wire on 31 Dec. Don

Mine went in by FAX on Dec 23rd and feels like it been a month, must be because it was last month. :D

I ordered a model 41 7" barrel for just under $800 and that's about $125 below average dealer cost depending on where dealer is buying and their volume. What this amounts to is maybe like you're getting Zander's price from S&W on this gun you are buying.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I heard that this program is discontinued as of 12/31/09. They will offer some rebates later this year, but will not be selling direct to the public anymore under the Military Discount Program. Bummer!

That's true to a degree, it's not considered public as only available to Active Duty & Retired Military, and not general public. If your entry info sent and post marked prior to midnight 31 December they made the cut. It was suggested to me when I talked to rep and another here on forum, IIRC, that this may happen next year but with different time frame.

No it was only as I said and if you like I will email you the form for you to read, but I think someone has posted a copy. I says
MILITARY PURCHASE FORM
Limit 1 Purchase per customer. Active Duty or Retired Military Only

You are correct, that is what the form is called. But S&W let it be known that those other could use the form and program as well.

Hats off to S&W for providing a break to those who currently serve and served honorably until retirement.
Starting to wish I'd stayed the extra 10 years.......
On second thought, nope. :D

I asked about it for a family member (LEO) and was told not this special offer. I hope some were allowed, but I am only repeating what I was told when I called about accessory info for another gun out of production.

Also

Your card will be charged when your order is ready to ship. Keep an eye out on our website. There will be another type of program listed some time next year.

Old Navy, I thought as you did, that it was military only, but on another thread someone posted an email from S&W that said the other groups were included as well. I thought it was in this thread but I just looked through it and it must be in another thread.

I remember the thread but I thought it was corrected or retracted. But since search engines seldom work for me I didn't do a search. I hope it was true or at least they did one earlier for the EMT, LEO & FF people.

Good news!

Got an email yesterday from S&W yesterday confirming receipt of my package for the Military Purchase Program. Email indicated that during the latter days of December 2009, over 1000 applications were received. No indication as to when orders will be filled and/or shipped. :)

If I'm not mistaken, cutting 40% off MSRP puts the price at dealer cost, give or take a few bucks.

Generally I've found that if you see a MSRP on any maker's gun, subtract 40% and then factor that price by an extra 15% or 20% and it's close to what a dealer tags a gun for sale in his/her store.

Your math is suspect, I know dealer cost at both a large dealer and small dealer and the 40% below MSRP is on average about 10% back of their cost, but sometimes could be cost because of special deals to some retailers like Davidsons or others. My friend called (he's a stocking dealer for Glock, Springfield, Beretta, Sig S&W and others, and carries a about 3 million dollar inventory of guns with over a million in sales last year and he says my price on the 41 is just a shade under $100 less then he can order one. He has one ordered but has no delivery date and he said he was told 90 to 120 days delay. I was told 60 for mine and his was ordered in early November and as of yet to show up. He also said if a small shop that orders just 1 or 2 S&W a month from someone like Zanders the price will be about 15% better then that small dealer.

I tend to agree with Old Navy. I've checked with some local dealers and also with Davidson's and have yet to find a dealer who can beat S&W's discounted price offered by this program. I'm just glad to finally get close to owning one of the finest production made .22 target pistols available in the world.
