Hypothetical: You are going into a gunfight - what handgun do you take - No reloads!

P226 loaded with 15+1 GD's

The full size M&P 9 with 17+1 rounds of Gold Dot HP. Easy, quick and accurate.

Since the late 70s or early 80s there has been one pistol that I made sure was handy if I though I might actually need a pistol. My Ithaca 1911A1. I know there are more advanced designs and my choice is probably more a mental decision than a practical one.

I would go to my 4 inch, Model 19-2 stoked with full house 357magnum, 158g Copper washed lead semi wadcutters. If they will crack an engine block then they will discourage any scumbag.

Okay, so I KNOW I'll be in a gunfight if I go out...

Choice 1: I stay home.

Choice 2: I bring my Squad Scout M1A and a few friends, similarly equipped.

Choice 3: My Glock 20 with 6" Bar-Sto barrel and grip reduction, loaded with 165 gr. Double-Tap Gold Dots.

Choice 4: What I'd be wearing anyway, any given day, one of my 9x23 Kimber Aegis guns.

Easy.

A Colt Single Action from the B westerns.
It might shoot a little slower, but it NEVER ran out of 'bullets'.
:D

Since my carry weapon 99.5% of the time is a 6906 w/12 rds of Federal 135 gr HP's, I would probably have it with me when the hits the fan. I never feel undergunned and if I need more than a dozen, I probably stepped in a bigger pile than I can prepare for. Joe

Thanks Everyone

I know it was a silly exercise, but I got some interesting information and a few chuckles out of it.

At the end of the day, you and I shouldn't be carrying a weapon we are not willing to bet our life or anothers life on. And I agree, if I know going out the door I will be in a gunfight, I will not open the door....

M28-2 w/4-inch tube loaded with heavy 158 or 180 gr. .357 magnum loads. 6 for sure!

Since it has to be one I own and I'm limited to it's one load capacity it would have to be my Sigma. It's never jammed so far and if 17 rounds aren't enough then I'm likely too out numbered for it to matter.

Hypothetically? If I new I was going to a gunfight, I wouldn't go. If I had to I'd bring a long gun.

+infinity

The only time I'd willingly take a handgun to a gunfight is because I had no time to grab a long gun. As a result, my answer is, "whichever handgun is closest." More often than not this would mean the little Black Widow in my pocket.
