I'm going to try a freefloat handguard. Is their a fit size I should be looking for? I know I want a carbine handguard. Should it be a mil spec?
Thanks...I quess I'm trying to find a handguard that will fit on the Tacticool barrel nut that will screw on and off. If I'm understanding this right, it would make it easy to remove the barrel for cleaning. Also, I see two sizes. One is Mil spec. Not sure about the other size.
It really does not matter since you will need an adapter in order to fit aftermarket handguards on your 15-22 like the one at M&P15-22 Handguard Tools and Accessories - M&P15-22 Parts, Tools, and Accessories. But, once you fit this adapter you should be able to use mil-spec handguards just be aware that there will be a slight gap between the end of the handguard and the receiver which you can see from pics of some others who have done the conversion already on their rifles.
Yes...Thanks for the link. I understand now. The adapter will replace the barrel nut that came with the rifle and allow for handguard removel without the Shoowrinch. I'm a 1911 guy...this is my first rifle. Thanks to all in this forum. Isn't that the same adapter listed in the 15-22 Classifieds Sticky?
Honestly after going over to the Classified thread and looking I really could not say. I just dug up that particular link that I had bookmarked from a previous thread before the Classified one went up. If you like I can edit the link so it points to the Classified one if you prefer?
