I Own a LCP. Like the size but man it's a hand cannon. It does the job just has a feel to it in my hand I just don't like.

SO, I went to check out a Bodyguard .380. I feel in love with the fitment. it felt great in my hand.

So yesterday I picked one up.
Out of the box the right laser button didn't work.
had to go back and switch out the laser assy from another one they had in stock. it worked but you had to "really" push the button. To me giving it all you had to get the laser on is kinda retarded.

we got it working better by rotating the rubber button.

Went out to the range today with 200 rounds

1st 80 rounds didn't have any problems.
made it through 20 more and bam gun jammed and was stuck.

found out when I got home to take it apart. the screw that holds the laser in the front of the gun came out and jammed the slid.
So now it looks as the gun needs to be sent in and fixed/replaced/whatever. I know for a fact the screw was tight. I checked it along with the person at the gun shop.

But overall while shooting the gun. It felt way better than my Ruger LCP. the trigger pull is about the same but you have to reset the trigger all the way forward before each round, Ruger didn't

but I can hit the target up to about 20 yards ( not easy but i can) where I was limited to hitting the target at 10 yards with the LCP..

So lets see what S&W says, calling them tomorrow

I wanted one until I read about all the problems. I'll get one if they get em right one day.

Yeah, They had problems with the M&P 15-22 rifle. I got one and haven't had a real problem yet

I am calling them tomorrow so lets see what they say

When I took my laser out to just see where the batteries are, etc. I found that when you put the assembly back in the screw will tighten up, but then I noticed that the door was raised a bit and needed to be pressed down until it snaps in place...then the screw tightens all the way in. It is possible that you had not snapped the assembly all the way in place resulting in the screw backing out on firing. Food for thought.

Yeah, it was tight and it snapped in place.

Was Considering a Bodyguard 380 until I heard about all the problems with it.I decided to get a 1977 West German Walther PPKS.When I carry it sits in a pocket holster or on my hip.Zero problems, utterly reliable, and for a self defense gun a laser sight is overkill.Hope S+W works out all the problems......God Bless......Mike

I really disagree with your laser statement. Any self defense gun you carry MUST have a laser. It's just common sense. If you don't think it's necessary, the next time you go to the range, lay on the ground and hold your gun at full arm's length above your head and see how accurate you are. YMMV!

I 100% agree.
I watched a video at the range Sunday waiting for my turn. and They were talking about why you should have a laser. there are times you will need it.

Update.
I Called S&W this morning.
Guy I talked to didn't seem to really care about my problem
Was just told to send the Laser in and the buttons and they should be replaced.

So it's off in the mail today we shall see how it goes

Old saying; "Beware of low serial numbers."

I like to give new models a couple of years to work out the bugs before investing my $$$.

i purchased mine yesterday and have put 200 rounds through it without any issue. Serial number is in 6000. was able sight in both iron and laser sights. shoots great and tight grouping even at +30 ft.

EAA or EAB with your serial number?

According to information gleaned from other relevant web sites I wouldn't be confident until I had fired at least 500 rounds.

If you depend on a laser that much, what are you going to do when they (often) don't work? Lieing on the ground, arm over head, trying to shoot? What's next, shooting over the shoulder, under the arm, on one foot while doing the Hokie-Pokie? Did no one ever manage to defend themself before lasers were invented?

I am not sure who this is aimed at but I'll answer my opinion

I don't rely on it. But I want a 100% working gun.
my BG380 is in the safe waiting for the laser. till than I carry my G30(that doesn't have a laser)

If the laser stopped working, I am fully able to use my firearm with normal sights . I hope to never have to use my firearm in a self defense manner.

It doesn't hurt to have a laser. one of the reasons I bought this gun is cause it has a laser. and it fit in my hand better than the LCP.

but there should be nothing wrong with having a 100% working pistol or anything else for that matter.

I hate half a** stuff put together or half a** working things.

lasers are for cheaters!

i suppose you put a scope on all your long guns too!
lasers are for cheaters or guys that like sci-fi and think they are luke skywalker....I point and shoot.don't need a laser.....wait i have to stop bad guy and turn on my laser.....oops I'm DEAD.

LMAO really?

there may be a time you may or may not need to use it

and no my long guns do not all have scopes on them

Some people have a one way mind. what ever floats your boat

Ha! Ha! That's a good one! You're such a kidder! For a minute there I thought you were serious!

I recently purchased a BG380, having trouble getting use to the trigger pull, and 1st pistol I've owned with laser, having to get used to it too. At first I had a little trouble with the on/off buttons but I think I have it figured out. Only shot 50 rounds thru it to date. Does anyone know if S&W will do trigger work on them? Very comfortable in the hand for a small gun and can literally carry it in my pocket totally concealed. SN EAA 2000 series.
